Liberal groups devote millions to blocking GOP election deniers

LinkedIn founder Reid Hoffman, one of the nation’s top political donors, gathered more than a dozen billionaires or their representatives over Zoom Friday to sound an alarm about the coming elections.
“MAGA leaders intend to use 2022 midterm wins to install Trump in 2024 regardless of the vote,” read a slide of the PowerPoint Hoffman presented to the group, which was obtained by The Washington Post.
He was pitching some of the nation’s wealthiest people on a doomsday idea that has become a growing obsession among the liberal donor community. Another slide, titled “How MAGA midterms can install Trump,” laid out a step-by-step hypothetical scenario: Republicans win statewide offices in key battleground states in 2022 and then change state laws in 2023 to give legislatures control over presidential electors. After the next presidential election, they declare votes from urban centers “tainted” and overrule the popular vote by sending their own slate of electors to Washington.
======
This is not far-fetched at all. This is what Steve Bannon has been urging and is what Trump loyalists wanted to do in 2020 but faced backlash from Republicans loyal to democracy and their oath. Next time, Republicans plan to have partisan loyalists in place to overturn the will of the voters.

“You can influence quite literally who is administering elections,”

And, as we have seen, this is the core tactic the Trump haters used in the 2020 election fraud. The Trump haters see their tactic threatened by those who want to prevent election fraud in future elections. And they are spending massive amounts of money to neutralizing that threat.

Now I'm wondering if LinkedIn has stuck around so well because it's founder donates a lot...

But that's a tangent.

Democrats must ensure they maintain or rebuild a strong foundation in all possible local and state elected positions, because they are the metaphorical and perhaps literal foundation and farm teams of the party.

Music to my ears that the DEm donor class are that disheartened and frightened.

Good to see (y)

Filthy, corrupt republicans are obviously a clear and present danger to this democracy.

Yet if you ask a bunch of average republican dopes on the street who are the bigger threat to democracy ... republicans or Democrats ... all the clueless morons would say Dems ... lol

There was no election fraud in 2020.
The Trump haters see their tactic threatened by those who want to prevent election fraud in future elections.
Too late. We've already heard direct testimony about those "loyal Republicans" who were actually intent on perpetrating election fraud, with false documents and "alternate" electors, to overturn the certified, verified, and legal results of the last election. You'll be able to watch their testimony forever and ever on C-SPAN archives.
Try to keep up with current events.

Why, because you look forward to authoritarian rule by Republicans?
SAVE OUR DEMOCRACY, huh?

How do these scary new laws work? The legislatures take a vote and simply toss out the popular votes in their state and install their own choices? Is that what these loons are telling you? LOL

Why haven't they let me in on this. Cool beans. Do you think it will work?

So where's the part about them thowing out the popular vote in their state and choosing their own electors?

lol, what 2020 election fraud?

Anybody with at least half a brain is.

I take it you aren't?

This election fraud madness by Republicans and their supporters is just completely bonkers.
It doesn't seem to matter how many times they go to court and lose about this issue they still go with it.

How do you have honest discussions with people who so openly deny reality?

Frightening - No. Joyful that your party is in disarray and disheartened - absolutely.

I literally laughed out loud at seeing "2020 election fraud" in the middle of 2022.

We don't. No one with any credibility takes Republicans seriously anymore. They're not just a political party that opposes more liberal influences in the country. They're brain dead liars who don't know the difference between up and banana peel.
