Liam Fox defends call for ban of Medal of Honor game

Dragon Age was great, except for the million and one times the game stopped so you could have far too long dialogs. I can't get very far in it before the constant stopping for 5 minutes of dialog annoys me too much.

I was expecting a typical RPG experience, like 3rd person. Instead, i got repetitive gameplay and a game UI i just couldn't get used too.

Exactly, and I said my peace about it. So shove that in your pipe and smoke it. Watch out for the egg on your face, salmonella you know.

Would that be the peace pipe?

It's whatever you want it to be. The fact of the matter is I responded to the OP which was about Liam Fox saying he thought retailers should ban the game. I said it's stupid to fear a game and you should leave it up to the consumers. And you chimed in talking about how no one said the game should be banned (even though that was proposed by Liam Fox in the OP). So perhaps before you open your mouth trying to be all smarmy, you should engage that brain of yours first and think.

I miss the old party based, turn based RPGs. The gold box games, Wizardry, M & M...

BioWare games are....ok. Jade Empire and Mass Effect were great games except they suffered from the same problems that most BioWare games had. You never really feel like you can have an actual impact on the world and the impact you do have is somewhat artificial. No matter what, there was very little you could do to **** with the world.

If you want a kick-ass RPG, get ahold of a copy of Deus Ex or Arcanum. Black and White isnt a bad choice either.

For Christ's sake, it's a damn video game.

Does that mean that Civilization IV is also going to be banned? In that game, I have gotten to play as the Americans, as the Arabs, as the American Indians, as the British, as the Russians, as the Persians (Iranians), and as other civilizations.

Wait, maybe they won't ban Civ IV - Maybe they will just reduce the number of Civilizations to those which are politically acceptable to play. So, in the future, you can play Civ IV as the Americans, and as.......... Well, as the Americans.

Dragon Age origins was just blah with the dialog Mass Effect didn't have that much dialog in the game maybe an cut scenes at certain parts that were important to the game ect. I was seriously thinking I was go too break my figure from all the left click mouse button I had to do with Dragon Age just to get threw the dialog. Hell the whole Ai system was hard to get use too for me, since I'm not use to a turned base system.

It was a great game just had a lot of issue with the gaming system used in the game. Plus with the romance ending with the female character who romance Alastair was just ugggg. Who ever thought that was a good romance ending needs to get shot.

Civ 5, next month...

I've been involved in the game industry for awhile. I've actually been to EA's Vancouver, Redwood, and Orlando studios. These people work very hard on their products and when you go into each studio you see a big white board with competing games box art taped to the side, and notes of what each has.

I would assume after MW2 stepped up the bar with the shock of the airport scene and seeing America in shambles as you are fighting Russian forces they had to think of something that gave people mixed feelings or anger them. When you play MW2 and you see a quaint suburban town is totally destroyed by war it gets you ready to go and fight, I would assume this has the same effect. Hey at least it wasn't fox talking about Mass Effect being a porno lol.

Ummm...yay? The last Civ game was TERRIBLE.

That is sheer sacrilege! It was certainly not the best of the series, but it was still a pretty good game.

There hasnt been very much new to the Civ series since Call to Power. The last Civ game (4 I think it was) was absolutely terrible. Very little unit selection, fewer wonders, buggy as hell, dumb AI, skewed diplomacy system.

It is a damn video game. People need to chill. When I play them I like to kill everything and anything, but outside the game I am not that violent.

I, for one, do everything that I see in video games.

I've personally asked Firaxis to delay the release of Civ V till Nov. I should get my new Comp up by late Oct. Until then, the anguish of a Civ Game being out that I could not play would be...

unbareable. I have also sacrificed several goats to the Demon God of Game Delay for this to occur as well.

What games, for example?

There are numerous RTSes, any game with multiplayer.

And let's look at what I can do without being a Nazi:

Kill POWs in World at War
Blow up towns and enslave children in Fallout 3
Enslave the galaxy in Knights of the Old Republic
**** hookers and then launch an RPG into them in GTA
And who knows, those goombas probably had mothers.

The point of a video game is to escape from reality. You can do what you wish without any real moral or material consequences.

To be honest with you, when i say i agree with Fox, i agree in the sense that it is insensitive. I know it's just a game but its quiet distasteful. The thing with the airport scene is, that has no relevance to current modern day conflict. In COD, it is well known you can play terrorists (on multiplayer anyway), but MoH takes it to a new level by introducing a Taliban storyline. But being the free market guy i am, the game developers have a right to publish and create this kind of storyline and game.

I hate turned based games!!!

What mission do you enslave children in Fallout 3? That's pretty bad ass. I either just forgot about it or haven't come across it yet.

Some of the changes coming in Civ 5 look really interesting. Just not being able to stack military units will make a significant difference.

I want no **** nuclear weapons. Things that flatten cities damn it. Things I can program to hit certain cities, and have a "Button" to do an all out mass strike with. When I win the space race, I like nuking the computer, I hate that nukes are so... weaksauce. GIVE ME MY NUKES!

Eh, I'm sure I'll get a lot of flak for this, but, I think that humanising the Taleban is a really important thing to do, and I award all accolades to the game for doing so. I could get into the politics of how the Taleban is just fighting for freedom, or their land, etc., as opposed to fighting the American Infidel because Allah Said To, but, whichever version you believe, at the end of the day, the Taleban fighters are still human, undeniably and irrevocably.

They've got a side, they've got a viewpoint, and they've got support -- no reason not to be able to play as a Taleban fighter, they're just as fitting soldiers as the Americans are.

The current MoH in development is nothing but a Call of Duty shell, I played the beta for about three hours and found nothing new. The FPS market is being flooded with crap and thats sad.
