No, the topic isn't sarcasm about the invasion.

It's hard enough to get people to give a crap about people in the rest of the world. If I mention the famine in Afghanistan, the tyranny of drug cartels (our country funds) in Mexico and to the south, and so on, it's hard enough to get people to have any concern.

Now imagine if having that concern meant actually going in the streets to protest when it won't do any good. That's really hard. Would you go into the street tonight for causes like that? No.

Now imagine that if you DID go and protest, you were under a brutal dictator and likely to get arrested and beaten. Now would you do that, just because you care about the welfare of people in another country?

And yet, that's exactly what thousands of Russians did, protest Putin's invasion of Ukraine, despite that danger. Over a thousand were arrested. It is humbling.

At last count, that's now 3500 arrested.

Well that's one way to misread a thread.

"Heroes" works.

Truckers get arrested in Canada after several days of blocked traffic. Conservatives scream like banshees.

Thousands of Russians arrested while protesting their country's invasion of a sovereign country. Conservatives mostly silent.

From the article:
"Only the anti-war movement of Russians can save life on this planet."

Those are two nice thoughts, but ...

Soon American truckers will be showing up in DC to assert American freedoms and liberty, taking on forces of fascist govt overreach, and I hope they'll be treated as heroes too.

"What - you can't say that! Protests are only appropriate in Russia, not America! You must be working for Vladimir Putin!"

What will they be wanting the Federal government to do?

It takes a lot of stones to protest in Russia.

Unlike the hillbilly dumb assed truckers who are anti vax and anti science.

The very thing that so many have been complaining about for the past 2 years. Taking away people's personal health choices from them by imposing requirements for being vaccinated and masked (never happened all these years and decades over the flu, which tens of thousands of deaths are attributed to each year). Disallowing freedom of assembly, or even going outside. These are fundamental liberties. Just as the Left have in the past complained of an all-powerful national security state that abuses its power and tramples on civil rights in the name of national security, others feel a similar threat from an all-power medical security state which tramples on personal freedoms and civil rights in the name of medical security. Democracy and liberty are simply not compatible with a prolonged state of emergency.

Why the **** do I have to spell out such obvious things for you? Are you blind, man? No, you just choose to put yourself in denial.

Does the Federal government in the US do those things? Impose Covid requirements? I didn't know that.

Certainly they've been imposing them on govt workers. They also want it for being able to fly. So freedom of movement is also affected. Exactly the things that strip away liberty.

Back up. The federal government imposes Covid measures on federal government employees and that's why this convoy is going to Washington?

It's about this pattern of encroachment and overreach which is slowly stifling freedom in America, and putting a stranglehold on it.

They're protesting the Federal government, right? That's why they're going to DC. What do they want the Federal government to do?
Is it possible they're protesting against the wrong government?

Let's hope Vlad is later nominated for a Peace prize .

Look how he has rid Ukranians of the evil Americans who used the country for money laundering and as a pretext to make their contractors into multi versions of Midas .

The Industrial Military Complex and the Neocons must be incandescent to see Mr P remove their money making schemes in one quick sweep of the scalpel .

As for the Biden Crime Family -- heart broken .

Interesting.

There is NO excuse for the bloody invasion, but -- yes -- I have heard that corruption is quite a problem in Ukraine -- as it is in Russia and even in the United States (although here it is disguised more cleverly).
