Janet Napolitino as Sec. of Homeland Security - As Gov. of Arizona Napolitano last year signed into law the nation's harshest penalty for employers who knowingly hire illegal immigrants, a measure that would take away their business licenses for a second violation.
She called it the "business death penalty" and the "most aggressive action in the country" to stem the flow of illegal workers.

General Anthony Zinni National Security Council - On March 15, 2000, Zinni testified before Congress that "Iraq remains the most significant near-term threat to U.S. interests in the Persian Gulf region. This is primarily due to its large conventional military force, pursuit of WMD, oppressive treatment of Iraqi citizens, refusal to comply with United Nations Security Council resolutions, persistent threats to enforcement of the no-fly zones, and continued efforts to violate UN Security Council sanctions through oil smuggling."

Robert Gates Secretary of Defense - Appointed by President Bush he will remain SOD. Prior to this, Gates served for 26 years in the Central Intelligence Agency and the National Security Council, and under President George H. W. Bush as Director of Central Intelligence. (Hmmmm, Seems to me that faulty intelligence got us into the Iraq war)

Looks like Obama is more of a centrist than many expected. Do any of you think he is pissing off the left?

Please feel free to add cabinet choices to this thread and discuss it amongst yourselfs.

I think Obama went with Gates because his performance so far has been satisfactory and is already on board for a troop downdraw. Rock, you know damn well that the CIA is big and you can't say everyone screwed up because of one thing. The FBI screwed up the most. The CIA is not five guys sitting in an office and therefore everyone knows what the others said. The much bigger problem is Hillary at State. She is totally unqualified for that job. You know damn well that's a payback pick, gets her executive experience.

Not at all, in fact he is doing what he said he was going to do. Work at uniting America. You don't unite a country from working all the way left or right.

Why wouldn't Obama pick people who for the most part know what they're doing and have EXPERIENCE in the positions they hold? Obama through his campaign showed he is an expert at picking EFFICIENT team members who know what their role is and how to play it. He doesn't pick guys like Brownie or Rumsfeld.

Most of Obama's cabinet are from the Clinton era... it's almost like we're getting Clinton's third term, but insted of the first Black President in office, we'll have the first Black Man as President.

As for the above:

Napalitano has a handle of illegal immigration.. what about terrorism?

Zinni I have no comment on because I have very little information on him at this time, Suppose I should go brush up.

Gates is the "easy" choice, he's doing a decent job and not rocking the boat. Smart move is dont' rock the boat right now in that position.

Well I for one am quite happy with his cabinet choices so far (although Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State is the one I question the most). I'm glad to see that you're giving Obama a chance.

I think Obama could **** on the Oval Office carpet and you'd be quite happy.

what about the rest of them, aren't they all clinton retreads?

so much for change we can believe in.

As long as I don't have to clean it up, I couldn't care less. Maybe someone could preserve it for the Smithsonian.

What's wrong with using experienced people? That was one of Jimmy Carter's biggest problems. He brought pretty much his entire staff from Georgia, and they had no idea how things work in Washington.

It's good to bring in people who know what they're doing.

I think there are bigger things to worry about than Obama pooping on the floor. ;)

I would say that we can all agree with this statement.

I am just waiting for Iriemon to come in here and defend this after he argued ad nasueum that the change obama promised was simply change from Bush appointees and not appointing washington outsiders.

Could very well be. Look....GWB **** all over the American people and you still hold him in high esteem.

Janet Napolitano- racked with poor budgetary management during her political career up to the govenor seat. Border state govenor who put National Guard on the board...and regulated them to offices and manual labor with no enforcement and patrolling regulated to informing Border Agents (something the Minutemen had already been doing and were better equiped to do). Failure to address several major issues but happy to take credit when other's instigated their own measures (FLDS/Jeffs, Border Patrol enforcement). Has proven to be capable of following and capitalizing on popular trends, but not as a leader who will not be able to run to a cheerleading crowd of constituents when security situations arise that demand firm leadership.

General Anthony Zinni National Security Council - On March 15, 2000, Zinni testified before Congress that "Iraq remains the most significant near-term threat to U.S. interests in the Persian Gulf region. Robert Gates Secretary of Defense- Excellent choice to continue the Iraq/Afghanistan policy. Understands the current situation in Afghanistan and can provide a blueprint for its future withdraw. Gives him a connection to GWB and able to continually pin upcoming future failures on him when things get tough. Expect to see him replaced within 1 year when Iraq has fully fallen off of the radar.

Susan Rice- protege' of Madaline Albright but without the connections nor the . Hard core lefty whose focus is Africa and "human rights" abuses. Elevated to a cabinet position putting her in conflict with the State Department on foreign affairs. Effectively makes the UN a large part of future US interests. Has repeatedly gaffe'd by making statements without researching what she was talking about.

“I swore to myself that if I ever faced such a crisis again, I would come down on the side of dramatic action, going down in flames if that was required.”

All that needs to be said. Chances of being engaged in Africa as "peacekeepers" within this presidency is EXTREMELY high.

More to come but darn is my stomach growling.

She called it the "business death penalty" and the "most aggressive action in the country" to stem the flow of illegal workers.

She was the lawyer for Anita Hill during the infamous and despicable "High tech lynching" confirmation hearings of Clarence Thomas, which incidentally was presided over by Joe Biden.

So...

Were the Republicans lying--or just terribly confused--when they said, over and over again, that Obama is a socialist and a Marxist? Discuss.

According to an email I received, he also appointed Cecelia Munoz, a high-ranking La Raza executive, to a key post. Munoz has
been in charge of La Raza's legislative and lobbying efforts. She will now be Obama's Director of Intergovernmental Affairs and will serve as the chief administration liaison with state and local governments.

Munoz headed La Raza's campaign to give driver's licenses to illegals and pass the amnesty bill, the DREAM Act and the AgJOBS amnesty.

Its under the radar stuff that really chaps my hide. I had to deal with these La Raza yahoos back in my university on a regular basis. Got suckered into one of their meetings by a girl I was dating at the time. Serious drivel being spewed with little to no substantial legal recourse in their arguements. After the meeting I ended up getting into it with one of their officers when I declined to become part of their little group. Still remember being called a brainwashed neo-con "traitor" to my people. Just because we share a similar hispanic/latino surname we're going to share the same politics (yes I'm a minority blue collar conservative. Yes we do exist)? Psssh.

Expect to see more reprimands and future lawsuits against border state agencies attempting to curb illegal immigration. While Napolitano militarized the border, she's shown herself to be a political trend follower and will cave in at the first hint illegal immigration becoming popular within the cabinet ranks.

This is a VERY bad choice for Obama though. During times of economic stress, illegal immigrants are looked upon in a very very nasty light by average citizens. Attempts to decriminalize their actions or using heavy hand policies against border patrol agents will cause some big grumbles.

Its quite disturbing that Obama managed to dig deep to find the absolute worst possible scumbag to fill every cabinet position. I thought Obama would keep pretending to be about "change" at least until inauguration day, but no, the moment the votes were counted he began to show his true colors.

Susan Rice sounds like a real intelligent choice, too.

Susan Rice Thwarted Capture Of bin Laden
By Bob Parks Friday, December 5, 2008

During a campaign interview on CNN, Barack Obama’s-then national security adviser Susan Rice stated that President Bush blew opportunities to capture Osama bin Laden and she wouldn’t mind seeing him killed. It turns out Obama’s choice of UN Ambassador blew opportunities as well.

Terrorism experts blame Rice for having played a key role in blocking efforts to neutralize Osama bin Laden in the 1990s. According to Mansoor Ijaz, a former trouble shooter for Clinton, the FBI had their efforts to capture bin Laden “overruled every single time by the State Department, by Susan Rice and her cronies, who were hell-bent on destroying the Sudan.”

In a Washington Post Op-Ed published in 2002, Mansoor Ijaz and Tim Carney, U.S. Ambassador to Sudan blamed Susan Rice for being a major obstacle to accepting offers of help from Sudan and to share their intelligence on bin Laden’s terror network.

Sound familiar?

It makes one wonder why someone as supposedly intelligent as Barack Obama would select this woman for national security advise during a presidential campaign, let alone later in his administration?

Rice was also influential in the Clinton Administration’s remaining uninvolved in the Rwandan genocide that took place in that nation in 1994.

The Atlantic (September 2001) published an article by Samantha Power titled: ”Bystanders to Genocide,” and outlined Rice’s role in the do-nothing policy of the Clinton Administration. At one point during debate on what the Administration should do, Rice said: ”If we use the word ‘genocide’ and are seen as doing nothing, what will be the effect on the November [congressional] election?” Those present were stunned by her comment. Lt. Colonel Tony Marley remembers the statement: ”We could believe that people would wonder that, but not that they would actually voice it.” Rice claimed that if she did make this statement it was inappropriate.

And this loose cannon is going to be our UN Ambassador…? Susan Rice Thwarted Capture Of bin Laden

Obama also wants to pass several controversial U.N. treaties and says that he would consider joining the International Criminal Court.

Obama Nominees Signal Radical Pro-U.N. Agenda
By Cliff Kincaid Monday, December 1, 2008

CNN’s “Late Edition” Sunday program featured the views of several observers, including so-called “Republican strategist” Ed Rollins, who could find nothing objectionable in any of President-elect Barack Obama’s controversial pro-U.N. nominations in the foreign policy arena. Rollins’ views were indistinguishable from those of Democratic Party strategist James Carville.

Host Wolf Blitzer commented, “It says a lot, Ed Rollins―correct me if I’m wrong―about his self-confidence, Barack Obama, that he’s bringing in these major figures with a lot of experience and a lot of personality and a lot of strong ideas, in the sense that he’s not afraid that they’re going to fight each other and fight him.”

Rollins replied, in part: “I think that’s one of the greatest compliments to him, is that he’s not afraid of smart, strong people around him.”

This is what passes for media scrutiny of Obama’s foreign policy picks.

In fact, there is much to question. Two nominees in particular―Senator Hillary Clinton and Susan Rice―were close associates of Brookings Institution president Strobe Talbott, an advocate of world government who was named as a trusted contact of the Russian Intelligence service while he was in the Clinton Administration. The charge, which was denied by Talbott, was featured in the blockbuster book, Comrade J, based on interviews with a prominent Russian defector from the U.N.

Talbott wrote a book this year, The Great Experiment, describing his own background in the pro-world government World Federalist Movement and naming a network of friends and close associates that includes former President Bill Clinton and billionaire leftist George Soros. The purpose of Talbott’s book is to promote “global governance,” a euphemism for world government. It is defined in the subtitle as “The Quest for a Global Nation.”

With the nominations of Clinton as Secretary of State and Rice as United Nations Ambassador, Obama’s global agenda is becoming clear. He wants to dramatically expand the power of the U.N., a corrupt global institution that is infested with spies for foreign and hostile interests. Obama’s record in the Senate included sponsorship of the pro-U.N. Global Poverty Act and co-sponsorship of the Jubilee Act. These two foreign aid spending measures alone would cost $920 billion to implement.
