Can anyone name a country (or even a state) that has lax gun control and low deaths. By lax I mean equal to the US and by low I mean a lot less than our gun death rate. Some people mentioned finland and Switzerland but both have very high gun control. Any ideas? What does this tell you?

Forget it. Just drop it. There's no way to make the US like Finland or Switzerland so why bother with this bullcrap? Ever try to put toothpaste back in a tube? That's what trying to roll back gun laws in the US would be like.
Find a way to work around what you've got now, what's in place. You can't change society so don't torture yourself by envying Finland and Switzerland and thinking America could be like them.

We can take what works and make it national. We already have it in the US.....we just need it in the right places

Idaho, New Hampshire, Utah, Wyoming

Guess where they are in the rank of gun deaths. It may surprise you
You first asked which countries or states have lax gun laws and lower death rate and now you're moving the goalposts to where he also have to prove they are the lowest overall? This isn't even going into the fact that gun deaths includes suicide by gun and there's no correlation between suicide and gun ownership.

I guess you can't answer. Not even the top ten.

That isn't what you originally asked.

But why can't you even break the top ten? I thought guns made us safer? Why aren't we the safest country on the planet?

There's Canada which has a low death rate and while gun laws in Canada are usually more restrictive than in the USA its not hard to get a legal gun in Canada if you navigate through the proper procedures. And Canada is less restrictive with guns than certain states in the USA such as CA.

Nope. Gun deaths. Sorry

Here is what you said in your original post. You say, "Can anyone name a country (or even a state) that has lax gun control and low deaths." You mention deaths, period. You don't specifically mention gun deaths.

That's too funny. He's trying to get wrapped up in a semantic and logical game by ignoring that suicides are counted as "gun deaths" but aren't really what's generally talked about as it relates to deaths that gun control prevents, yet he just says "deaths" so you're pointing out that "deaths" doesn't mean just "gun deaths".

The irony of you playing his own game back at him will likely be lost, but I definitely enjoy it.

For myself, any instance talking about gun regulation and gun deaths that is trying to loop suicides into it frankly shouldn't even be treated as a serious conversation to engage in as it's based from an illogical and dishonest foundation from the start.

They do make us safer, I feel safe everyday I strap my high capacity semi auto pistol to my side, do you feel safe without one?

Gun control reduces gun suicides. Of course they should be counted

Does your kid have one in math class?

Let’s make Canada national gun laws the same nationally for the US. Ok?

It's in the thread title.

Yes. I feel safe in the knowledge that I'm statistically unlikely ever to meet a fellow Briton carrying a gun, other than a specialist armed police officer.
