Believe it or not, the Latvians want to be Finno-Ugric! At any rate, this is what Latvia asked for Finno-Ugric EU members like Estonia, Finland and Hungary - to accept Latvia into their language family... They'd better not waste time and call themselves Anglo-Saxons straight away, lol. At least this promises more gain than being some Finno-Ugrics, I guess.
But yet, why did they start to identify themselves as Finno-Ugric? Why don't they find it comfortable staying with Lithuania in the same Baltic language group? Maybe, they consider it wrong party? Perhaps, they consider themselves to be rather allied to the Estonians and the Finns?
Really, they've got certain features in common - namely, inexplicable partiality for Nazi idols and revival of neo-fascist dictatorship. I am afraid, the World Congress of Finno-Ugric Peoples might also change with the help of those Finland and Estonia into a politically loaded organization to be used by these strongholds of neo-fascism to bring through their revanchist and neo-Nazi ambitions in Europe. Then, Latvia may well enter into it. She deserves it well.
