Last of Us

Same here. I tried to play it, but I'm a PC snob it usually hate console ports because they can't do them for shit. Usually it's the controls that are too janky.

I watched the first ep. and was pleasantly surprised. I felt both younger actresses were good, and pedro was good, and I think it had a very genuine feel to it, and the setting felt right.
Looking forward to the next one as well.

Anyone watching? I tried playing the video game when it came out and it didn't hold my interest. But the first episode of this has me willing to watch the next.
Yup. I haven’t played the video game (they make me motion-sick), but the first episode was great.

Another zombie tv series? Seriously people, have the TV execs lost their imagination. Never anything different or new?

Well these seem … different. And I said the same thing but promised my daughter I’d watch. I wasn’t disappointed.

Never played the game, but I'm pleased with the story, acting and production values of the TV series.

This isn't like some of the other video-game-turned-into-a-movie bombs.

Flip. It is only on HBO. That sucks. I loved the game and was waiting for the show.

Zombies and vampires are for kids. There ACTUALLY are very good adult shows on TV. One just needs to know where to find them.

There's really nothing new anywhere, if you stop and think about it. Just imaginative spins on old themes. ;)

That said I like the way zombies are presented here. The fast moving ones are always unnerving.

I'm thinking of that film adaptation for World of Warcraft and agreeing. That was terrible.

Each their own, I prefer shows that actually are ABOUT something.

I got to the part where Grandma was chewing on her daughter. Zombie movies have zero attraction to me, although I did like WWZ. I thought the use of ants to help create the surges of zombies to be a really interesting visual effect.

The genre definitely requires a new infusion of imagination now and again. Which is true for any genre, really.

I read WWZ and enjoyed the book, the movie less so (it was only very loosely based) but it was still ok. As a general rule I'm not gaga for zombies, and Cormac McCarthy's On the Road pretty much killed my tolerance for apocalypse porn but so far I'm pleased with Last of Us. We'll see what tonight's episode is like. ;)

I always wonder why shows don't play up the idea of decay in zombies more often. Like, if enough muscle mass wastes away from one set legs and glutes, does the zombie shamble in circles? If both are gone is the zombie left to upper body movement to crawl along? If the neck muscles waste then shouldn't the head hang at a grotesque angle? Hell, if zombie still use their eyes what happens when the muscles controlling them deteriorate? How come more aren't dripping on their own guts?

Tons of adult entertainment for you here:

Now leave us kids alone to have some fun.

I watched the third episode today. One of the best TV episodes about human love that I've seen in a long time.

Earlier, I saw a headline about someone complaining about the producers putting gay men in the show. I didn't read the article, so when I watched the episode, I didn't really know what was coming.

When it comes down to it, love is a fundamental human emotion that really has nothing to do with sex or gender. This episode would have been just as powerful if the couple had been heterosexual or lesbian.

My favorable opinion of this series just kicked up a notch.

Funny thing for those complainers is the characters were gay in the video game as well. The show just expanded on the relationship.

It was the second game where they showed the girl character in a same-sex relationship

There's not a lot of risk-taking by businesses when certain formulas have proven to work.

That said, I am watching the series, never played the game, but saw the game's ending on youtube. I will be watching the series. That guy, Joel, is a good actor in everything he is in.

I've intentionally avoided watching it. I've watched every episode of TWD and its spinoffs. All I need is to get hooked on another zombie series, but I'll probably cave in. I considered dropping HBO to save some bucks but then I got addicted to House of the Dragon. Damn that insidious HBO! :ROFLMAO:

^This^ TWD taught us the only way to "kill" a walker is to shoot/stab/bash/whatever its head. Yet they sometimes show deanimated ones with no visible head wounds. In one of the CDC episodes, Dr Jenner said only the brain stem reanimates. Yet walkers have senses of sight, hearing, smell, touch and maybe taste, all of which require higher brain function. For that matter, if only the brain stem reanimates, why does it work to hit them anywhere other than the base of skull? Seems to me the best survival strategy would be to find an island, plateau, whatever inaccessible to zombies, grow your own food and wait for them all to rot. Yeah, that's overthinking rather than just enjoying the show but it's fun to pick apart the plot holes. 😈

So are you, as a lycanthrope, watching Wolf Pack? ;)

I can't speak about LoU as I haven't seen it. But in TWD and its spinoffs, the zombies are secondary. Yeah, folks get eaten but the show really is about relationships among survivors and with their human enemies. And the writers aren't afraid to kill off popular characters. The shows are basically soap operas with zombies. :ROFLMAO:
