Labour knives out for Mandelson over memoirs - Telegraph

Quote(Peter Mandelson faced a bitter backlash from within Labour's ranks last night over publication of a book in which he lifts the lid on more than a decade of in-fighting at the top of his party.)

Love to see all these rats scurrying around after being defeated at the Polls.

None of them put their defeat down to what their disasterous policies had done to the Nation.

No, they didn't did they. Hence the breathtaking hypocrisy of Harperson when she aloofly proclaimed that Labour would hold the government 'to account'!

Even now, despite the abominous record which saw them turfed out, they're STILL trying to proctor other people on the right things to do and think!! But if it wasn't for hypocrisy and breathtaking arrogance, many in Labour would have no reason to rise from their filth pits of a morning.

Perhaps as an ex-Communist Party member, Mandy should have followed Cambell's lead in producing a book which was no more than a glossy pro-Blairite spin book. And as Campbell inspired the CHINESE COMMUNIST PARTY on propaganda tactics, I should think all this NuLab-leftard scurrying over fellow-Marxist Mandy's tome was fuelled as much by shock as by the fear of being rumbled on their traitorous, incivil and toxic activity!

...Well, it's better than Communists laying down those of other people!

But did they have to strip naked in a car to do it? Sexual Revolution so beloved of the rest of the Left I s'pose!

Nearly all politicians can be more honest when in opposition. Labour are just the same as their Tory and Liberal counterparts now.

--Perhaps as an ex-Communist Party member --snip-- fellow-Marxist Mandy's --

We may not like Mandelson but he was once a member of the Communist party - he hasn't been for years. It serves no purpose to try and paint him as a communist now. He's rejected by groups like SWP and any of the core socialist groups that have policies closer to the communists.

Honest?! Honestly!

But I would say that politicians in opposition don't have to immediately prove themselves, hence their free reign to pontificate and pass insolent judgements. And while that's not unique to Labour, their absolute lack of a sense of irony says more than a little about them. (But after 12 years of their destruction, we should damn well!)

And as for Mandy, I'm not trying to paint him exactly as the communist he was. I very much doubt even he would still believe in squashing democracy if it got in the way.* However the comparison is still relevant because like the communist governments the world over, New Labour have always enjoyed a reputation for lies and spin and warping of the truth. And Mandy was at the head of the NuLab pack in that area.

* But on second thoughts... he is a sizeable wheel in the EU machine after all, an organisation which squashes democracy if it gets in the way of its own aims.....! (Indeed, next to no EU countries had a referendum on the EU Cunstitution, a document which actually REMOVES independent autonomy. And when Ireland gave the 'wrong' answer, the EU pressured them to go again!)

I said more honest. They have nothing to lose and can be more honest.

But this is almost exactly the same for nearly every new opposition over the last hundred years or so.

If you want to attack politicians who have changed through the political spectrum there are many. Mandelson cannot be judged NOW for the politics of youth. We nearly all change our views over time.

But this is almost exactly the same for nearly every new opposition over the last hundred years or so.

However, Labour's arrogance and mouthiness from Day 1 of Opposition was absent in the Tories during their turn in 1997. New Labour's always taken the gold in aloof self-righteousness, even though Old Labour and Tory opposition too liked to act like they know it all (or weren't saying different to how they acted in power).

Mandelson cannot be judged NOW for the politics of youth.

Though I do wonder that had Mandy (and all the others like Hain or Clarke) been in the National Front instead, that mentioning it would more likely to pass without comment.
