Why is Labor Day when other people start paying attention? What's special about this particular day?

Why is Labor Day when other people start paying attention? What's special about this particular day?

It's a traditional demarkation. I have already heard the phrase, "traditional start of the campaign season" this weekend. Probably, it is because the conventions are over and there is a holiday weekend to exploit. Regardless of the reason, campaigns treat the holiday as a milestone. Ads increase. Candidate time gets more intense. The pace quickens.

In polling, there will be a shift from Registered Voter (RV) polls to Likely Voter (LV) polls, which are more accurate. Pollsters tend to herd behavior. They do not like to stand out too far, so weak pollsters tend to imitate respected pollsters. However, they do want to differentiate, so more effort goes into polling as the election approaches.
