ERBIL — Kuwaiti government introduced a US-like travel ban on passport holders of five Muslim-majority countries, according Gulf state.

The Kuwaiti new blanket ban includes Syrians, Iraqis, Iranians, Pakistanis and Afghans.

The ban is in place and citizens from those countries are not able to obtain visit, tourism or trade Kuwaiti visas.

The Kuwaiti state ascribes the travel restrictions to the instability and the existence of terrorist groups in those countries and that the ban would be lifted once the security situation improves.

Their leaders are making Kuwait great again!

Oh wow, it's almost like they could be following the US' lead on a policy issue.

You can't ignore the very real fact that Donald Trump ran on a Muslim ban in order to be elected. Just because he hasn't literally banned all Muslims from entering the US does not mean that this recent order is not the manifestation of it. Of course it is, and it's only made more ludicrous and obvious of it's status when you look at the countries that are included and excluded. Ones with actually histories of terrorist activity against the United States, strangely excluded. Ones with prominent Trump business interests, strangely excluded. It's obviously the Trump administration's failed attempt at creating a palatable exclusionary immigration system.

The Kuwaitis noticeably did not ban anyone from Muslim nations on the African continent. That's where all of their workforce comes from. Kuwaitis, as a rule, don't work. At least not with their hands.

Really? I thought that most Gulf State migrant workers came from South East Asia.

I did think it was strange they didn't include Libya more than Sudan in particular, but I thought it really just came down to a lack of concern when it comes to fighters from those regions and their overall objectives in their own state.
