Don't look now but don't put to much faith in that Government Elixir and its booster friends. I'm sure it brought great comfort to families who unwisely put to much faith in the vaccine.

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – Despite our high vaccination rate, COVID-19 activity remains high in San Diego County, the Health and Human Services Agency reported Friday, even as hospitalizations are on a slow decline.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention moved San Diego County to the high-risk level for COVID-19 three weeks ago and cases continue to trend high.

Dr. Wilma Wooten has publicly supported the CDC’s recommendations to wear masks indoors in public spaces, get vaccinated and boosted, and stay home if you are feeling sick.

Despite these recommendations from San Diego County, none of our elected officials including Mayor Todd Gloria and Supervisor Nathan Fletcher, wore masks while attending the Pride Parade. Mayor Todd Gloria even attended Del Mar Opening Day maskless, days after San Diego County put out a “strong recommendation” to wear a mask in crowded places.

Furthermore, these same officials have regularly touted San Diego County’s vaccination rate as evidence of their personal success. But COVID-19 cases are still rising in San Diego County.

More than 3 million or 89.9% of San Diegans age 6 months and older are at least partially vaccinated. Nearly 2.66 million or 79.4% are fully vaccinated. A total of 1,424,581 or 58.5% of 2,435,363 eligible San Diegans have received a booster.

To make matters worse, the official report for San Diego County shows that 41% of recent COVID-19 deaths are among fully vaccinated and boosted individuals.

26% of the 88 recent deaths are among fully vaccinated people. And 33% among people not fully vaccinated, which includes those with one shot and zero shots.

If fully vaccinated people make up 80% of the population then you’d expect them to make up 80% of the deaths, not 26%.

Also sandiego is at 2 deaths a day, so “recent” is what, 2 months? And this is a population of 1.45 million.

A better comparison would be to compare say the state of Mississippi to Sandiego. Mississippi has 2x the population and has only 52.6% fully vaccinated.

Sandiego’s current 7 day average is 2 deaths per day. At 2x the population that would translate to 4 deaths per day in Mississippi. Instead Mississippi is at 6 deaths per day, that’s 50% higher.

Vaccines are safe and save lives. The data is clear. Unfortunately we have too many people who think emotionally and rely on partisanship rather than logic.

Rep/cons have a problem with fact. They just can't get them straightened out without help from others.

Thanks for proving my point these past couple of years. Not enough return on investment.

Do you have ages/cofactors in your data?

I had Covid. Two weeks after boosting.

Never would have known if I hadn’t tested positive at work.

And I’m an asthmatic with type two diabetes.

So ima say the vax worked a treat!

San Diego has a very large retirement community.

Another Trump failure thread.

It's sad with cases going up and still an unacceptable numbers of deaths each day, people still want to focus on pointing fingers instead of trying to do the right thing. Especially our public "leaders" who should be an example.

It's vysky, our daily doomsayer doing his job, to try to make everyone as miserable as he is.

One of the weakest 'scientific' claims I've seen recently. 88 recent deaths?

And it still shows that unvaxxed die more often. Just get the shot.

San Diego has a very large retirement community.

Which partially explains why the death rate. Also proven is that it would likely be even higher if the vax rate were lower.

Just by the raw numbers presented in this article, people who are not fully vaccinated are twice as likely die of Covid as those who are.

Of course, once you account for differences in death rates and vaccination rates among different age groups, and the fact that probably 2/3s of the population has had Covid, you probably would end up with more like a 5-6 fold difference when comparing unvaccinated people in vulnerable age groups who never had Covid with fully vaxxed people in those same age groups. Then factor in the fact that half of the people who aren't fully vaxxed are partially vaxxed, it's probably more like 10-fold.
