What actually is getting to me is that the Imam's and others who are wanting to build this building are *using our 1st ammendment to promote their right to build it* . . even though it's just personally *hurtful* and disrespectful to the families who were directly affect by the actions of 9/11. . . nevermind how the victims *feel* about things - to the Imam's that's not *important*.
But when it comes to burning the Koran they suddenly want *us* to be concerned for *their* feelings?
*Their* religion?
*Their* thoughts?
They want us to be afraid that *they might act out violently*
You know what - I have a Koran (I have a Bible and a bunch of other religious holy books, too) . . I can burn it if I want to.
I just might do it. . . because if they're going to use *my rights* against *us* - then I'll use my *right* against them - two can play at that game. I refused to be bullied. If someone wants to be an ass**** to *me* and *my husband* - I can return the consideration two fold.
All that being said - I'm not planning on burning my copy of the Koran because it's a great support for my wobbly kitchen table. . . so all of you who just freaked out right now - take a chill pill.
But if I do - I'll let you know. I'll also video tape it and put it on youtube if I so please.
(edit - so this post marks my change in opinion on this issue - I *was* against it because it might incite violence overseas.
I'm not going to burn a Koran because I still think it's stupid - but if they're going to be allowed to build their center because of our 1st amendment then - well - if someone wants to set a pile ablaze then by all means. . .cue my avatar)
none of which takes away from his constitutional right to burn a quran. I like the ploy though. discredit the guy as a nutter and you discredit his rights as a citizen.
A little bit Fred Phelps, a little bit David Koresh. Sign me up! :screwy
"There is a slightly creepy cult of personality about all of this." Rose confronted him on his use of this phrase, and he explained that it made him "a little uneasy that he's so singular. He's clearly managing his own spectacle. He knows how to do it. He's a -- I think, a deeply manipulative guy..."
Evan Thomas (Newsweek) with Charlie Rose.

You want to know what is really, really creepy?
We have a president that sat in front of a fool for 20-years inhaling toxic waste emanating from the mouth of his mentor/Reverend.
That is far worse than burning a Koran... for Wright infected tens of thousand with poison from the pulpit for this country and Whitey, year after year.
His Post 911 show was a real doozy. Of course... Obama was never there when any of this happened...
Creepy is the press rolled over for Obama and defended this scumbag.
Now we have the product of Wright waging war against our country and our values.
These books will go up in smoke, irritate the usual suspects, and the story will die.
With Obama, we still have 2-years to deal with the creep, and that the masses never got to know the real Barack Hussein Obama, that the Journolists failed to inform the public of this menace is creepy.
Fortunately the Cult of Obama is being dismantled and the incompetent exposed for being an empty anti-American suit.
Of course this was after he was elected, and Brokaw admitted we don't know much about this guy.

.
this has what to do with burning a koran?
ROTFLOL... make Musims mad...the main problem is this: people think this is a bad idea because it will make muslims mad and put people at risk.
by caving to this sentiment, the radical muslim terrorists win.
as has been said, no one on the left ever seems to complain when some "artist" wants to display a **** covered virgin mary or a pissed on cross, etc. why? because they know that christians aren't going to go out and murder people over it.
that is the problem with radical islam, all they understand is violence.

You can shout fire in a theater and get a bunch of people trampled and call it free speech too, but that doesn't mean you lack culpability.
Does it bother you at all this guy is inciting radical muslims and may get some of our troops or even civililans killed? How about the fact that he's a gift to Al Queda as far as recruiting?
We can argue about whether or not this guy is a lunatic or if he is right to have a Kuran burning at his church. Be we can't deny the pure awesomeness that is that guys mustache.
Does it bother you that every time someone has appeased the Muslims they get more and more strident in their threats?
Let's see, I'm pretty sure it was the Muslims who reached out to Jones, asked for a sit-down. What threats did the Imam's group make? 'Come out to NYC, lunch is on us...'
Oh yeah..... he reached out all right.
Watch the whole thing.
baseball sucks
