Koch donors gather for weekend retreat

Not sure if there is a thread on this yet..

But you know you have a ****ty candidate when Satans backers dont want to back the candidate...and what does Trump do? Act like a child of course, by claiming he refused the Kochs... not like you can check up such things... what an utter moron.

Koch has put the network's budget at roughly $750 million through the end of 2016.

A significant portion was supposed to be directed at electing a Republican to the White House. It will instead go to helping Republican Senate candidates in at least five states: Ohio, Pennsylvania, Nevada, Wisconsin and Florida, Holden said.
notice which states lol

Kochs' know this election is a wash and trump is a joke candidate, they will still be dumping almost a billion into the swing state elections, supporting the republican party, and will still be attacking hillary and the democrats in those states.

The Kochs dont run the GOP- its Sheldon Adelson who does.

It's curious that the Wisconsin senate race is mentioned here. I thought for certain that I read the Koch's backed out of a large donation for Ron Johnson's campaign (it may have been just a specific donation to be used for advertising, not a withdrawal of general support, I'll have to try and find the article later).

Johnson is another loser, I hope you like Russ Feingold because he will win in November. But the Koch bros will still support Johnson with kind words in the press, but they wont waste money on a guaranteed loser. But johnson is one of Koch's lapdogs he was born in a Koch Brothers laboratory.

Sen. Ron Johnson, “Kochs’ Model Legislator”
RON JOHNSON CREDITED AFP WITH HIS DECISION TO RUN FOR SENATE

New York Times Political Correspondent Nicholas Confessore: Sen. Ron Johnson Credited Americans For Prosperity With His Decision To Run For Senate. According to a blog post by New York Times Political Correspondent Nicholas Confessore, “The reception, where Mr. Koch was honored with an award, marked the growing influence of the Tea Party-linked group within a Republican Party that it has sought to prod to the right on spending and regulation. Several Republican lawmakers close to Mr. Koch and his brother Charles attended, including Senator Ron Johnson of Wisconsin, who credited the group [Americans for Prosperity] with his decision to run for Senate, and Senator John Boozman of Arkansas.” [Nicholas Confessore – New York Times, 8/30/12]

AFP’sMadison Tea Party Rally In 2010 “Helped Launch The Career Of U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson.” According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, “AFP is an advocacy group founded by the conservative Koch brothers. The group emerged as a key conservative player in Wisconsin in recent years with several high-profile events, including a tea party rally in 2010 in Madison that helped launch the career of U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.).” [Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, 8/6/13]

It's smart politics to put your money where it will be most effective.

The Republicans aren't likely to win the White House unless some serious October surprises come forward. Therefore, it's imperative that they secure retention and control of the Senate by any means possible. The Democrats agenda and their stacking of the Supreme Court will be dependent upon control of the Senate. I can see a lot of Republicans coming out to vote for their Senate candidate, as a protest vote against Hillary Clinton, without supporting Donald Trump.

I'll predict it now - Clinton will be President and the Republicans will retain control of the Senate - and as a side benefit, Bernie Sanders will lose the bribe of a Senate Committee Chairmanship that Clinton offered him for his vocal support of her.

Kochs mostly run the state level GOP. ALEC targets state legislatures generally.

so you will vote for a third party and elect clinton and finish turning our GREAT REPUBLIC into a third world country,1.2% growth are you kidding me ,a 19 trillion dollar debt, soon to be a 21 trillion dollar debt i could care less about the kochs.
like him or not a vote for any one but TRUMP is a vote for more of the same, the democratic socialist party has done nothing but drive this economy into the ground .

run don run

Maybe the Kochs realize their big monied influence wouldn't be influential with a Trump presidency that wants to do away with elitists' undue influence in American politics? Makes one wonder which GOP presidential hopefuls accepted the Koch's monied influence and just how far said candidate(s) are/were willing to allow the Kochs to influence their behavior?

EDIT: It's quite evident Hillary is influenced by big money.

Kind of blows all those leftist memes about the Koch brothers out of the water, doesn't it?

Besides, they have stated they are staying out of the Presidential race by refusing all political advertising, either for, or against, on either side directly related to the Presidential race.

A bit different than your spin Pete. Not like you can check up such things....

"Our perspective is the same: We're focused on the Senate," Mark Holden, a top Koch network official, told reporters. "We have no intention to go after Donald Trump."

Why back a candidate that is for the people not the rich and powerful. Makes perfect sense.

They could buy Hillary except she is already bought and paid for. No need to waste money there.

They are smart businessmen not buffoons. If the Koch's spend their money it will be to stop any candidate for the people from becoming president. That is a powerful position to fill with someone you can't buy or own. Looks like this year the normal 50/50 split by the rich and powerful for the 2 parties will be leaning mostly democrat during the presidential election. They still need to control congress and naturally who is appointed to the SCOTUS.

Hillary is already paid for so it is just a matter of using the media the which the rich and powerful own to crush Trump. As I said the only buffoons are We the People. Nothing new except this time there is only one party for the rich and powerful to back for president.:lamo

Why would the Kochs back Trump? Because they are billionaires? Anyone who has listened to the Kochs knows they are pretty Libertarian.

But as stated elsewhere... The problem is Congress.. not the President. What Trump can do, is blow up the world over a tweet spat. The man is irrational and insane.

Not really. Just shows that they cant control the GOP as they could when it was the Tea Party running the show after the Neo Cons. They also know that the real power in Washington is in the house and Senate. Now the House is so gerrymandered that it would take a massive landslide for the GOP to lose that, but the Senate might be up for grabs, so that is where the Koch brothers are putting their money. Wise call and they dont get linked to the self destructing Trump.

And why would they need anti-Clinton ads? People already dont like her, and the way Trump constantly sticks his own foot in his mouth via his ass.. then it is counter productive.

No he can't. That claim is irrational and insane.

So lacking the backing of those who back "Satan" makes one a ****ty candidate? :screwy

I'd think that was more of a reason to endorse such a candidate...that those who prefer to back evil choose NOT to back him.

Yep. State legislation has a better return on investment for pocket liners.

It's rather obvious the meme about Koch Brothers control of the GOP never had any real legs to stand on.

On the other hand, it should be no coincidence Chelsea Clinton tied the knot on the grounds of George Soro's daughters digs. A rather chummy connection to the Overlord of the Progressive Machine.

I do agree with your statements regarding the House and Senate. Gerrymandering is a stupid practice. Districts should be geographical by population, and nothing else. In California, Democrats have all but removed any possibility a member of another party could ever be elected to office.

Republicans are certainly far more willing to sell their politics to the highest bidder, so it is unlikely that the democrats will be able to gain control of all three branches in spite of the GOP's complete inability to appeal on facts or policies.

Yep. State legislation has a better return on investment for pocket liners.

It costs much less to bribe them than federal government officials.

The Kochs dont run the GOP- its Sheldon Adelson who does.

Doesn't make any sense for Adelson to back Trump, since Trump is guaranteed to lose. HE should instead back the establishment GOP candidate, Hillary Clinton.
