I have always believed that obtaining knowledge is the most important thing in life. The benefits of knowledge are tangible and good:

1) understanding of the real problems (not imagined) allows for compromise and unity, which allows for additional success for "everyone involved".
2) it helps people become better people and more capable of dealing with their own lives.
3) it takes emotions (such as bias and hate) away where none should exist

In this case, the knowledge I am referring to is about the difference between Socialism, Democratic Socialism, and Capitalism and/or whatever type can be invented to allows the best of all to work together.

Below are 2 videos that talk about both and neither offers a bias for one or the other but simply an understanding of what each brings and the good and bad involved. In simple words, just knowledge and information,

I'm a hardcore information gatherer & truth searcher. Always was, since I was a little kid. I never knew why I was so driven in obtaining knowledge literally everywhere & anywhere, until later in life I took the Meyer's-Brigg's personality-test multiple times, coming-up an ENTP every time. Apparently, searching & gathering information is an ENTP hallmark - a defining characteristic! Ahah! I was not alone in the world!

But with that being said, knowledge is not the most important thing in life. Rather, the judgement in knowing what to do with one's knowledge is the most important thing. Knowledge is nothing, unless properly evaluated & actuated.

Anyway, all the above is my opinion - of course.

[Also from what I've seen of your posts, you may have some ENTP qualities yourself. If you love ideas more than things, if you have a dozen windows and hundreds of tabs always open on your computer of things you've just got to read someday soon, if your house or apartment is piled to the sky with books to be read, if you love to debate ideas - living for the debate itself rather than 'winning' the debate, and if a you come alive in meeting new people because you have the opportunity to learn something new from them, you just might be one of us!]

I am definitely "one of us". I have always been an avid reader and a passionate studier of human nature. My knowledge of people is what made me such a successful salesman..............and I do have to qualify that statement by saying that I never lied to anyone about what I was selling. In fact, just the opposite. I used to start every sale by pointing out the negatives of the product. I have always believed that truth sells better than lies............and you never get sued for it.

Interesting. I've had a lot interaction with (technical) sales people at the corporate level, both in purchasing and in supporting engineering & sales teams. I even considered becoming an indie manufacture's rep organization for a product we used that was not represented well.

What I learned most in my sales experiences, was the old 'identify a need and fill it' axiom. If you demonstrate to a client or customer how your product or service solves their needs & problems, you're in! It really isn't that complicated. Solve their damn problem! Oh, and don't forget to shut-up and ask for the order! That last is really important!

If you've got a few minutes to kill, you may want to consider taking the Meyers-Briggs personality test. There's many free online sources presenting it. You might get a kick out of it. I was blown away with my results. It really was an 'ahah' moment. My personality type described me better than my wife could! And it's not a 'one size fits all', scenario. The 16 personality types are all distinct, with some directly opposing each other. And the test seems to be fully accepted within the psychology community. Obviously, the hardest part of the test is reaching inside yourself as honestly as possible, trying not to read into the questions thereby influencing your responses.

To be honest - I've been thinking of starting a thread somewhere here, where some of us can take the test and discuss our results. Might do it, if I get the time & motivation.

Nice!

But what is your personalty, 'type'?

It's a four letter acronym, that is also assigned a colloquial name. And from that, you can get a better description generalizing your characteristics in a more tangible and approachable manner.

For example, I'm an 'ENTP,' colloquially known as 'Debater'. (which I guess explains my attraction to DP)

Check-out the two links below, to see what I'm talking about.

Here's the 16 types:

Meyers-Briggs Personality Types

Here's my specific personality type:

ENTP - - Debater

So, what are you? Does the type description seem to bear true to your personality? (mine very much does)
