Kimberley A. Strassel: The Socialist that Could

You need to re-read your OP statement. You sound paranoid. Is actually pretty funny. No more this, no more that, lol.

Progress is a very scary thought for the right.

Better watch out what you wish for. The woman is whip smart and can destroy any Republican that confronts her with only words.

I have read the highlights of the Green New Deal, and for the most part, I am on board.

What are your concerns?

That is what conservatives said about FDR's proposals as well.

Without reading the article you are just stating your positions on the GND. You dont need to be here if you can’t bring yourself to read the article.

You were there, were you? But go ahead and explain how this Marxist nonsense is accomplished without despotic and coercive state power.

The same way SS was passed. And the SEC was formed. And how the CCC worked.

This is not complicated. It is not easy, and it will take a lot of work, but in the long run, more Americans will be in better shape, and have more security.

Maybe Bezos will only be worth 13 billion, vs 137 billion. I think he (and others) will be OK.

I assume you read the article and understand what is being proposed?

Actually nothing is being proposed in that non-binding House resolution stating goals. It costs nothing, does nothing and thus means nothing. It is essentially just letting the far left feel included in the conversation - their "voices are being herd", yet without having actually done anything at all. Note that nothing in this House GND "bill" is being passed to the Senate to be made into law.

Much like the House repubicants being "solidly for" for the repeal (and replacement?) of PPACA yet not having actually done much of either.

Are you talking about the article in the OP? Or The 4 proposals of the New Green Deal?

No, its far more than that. It is altering, by force, the way Americans move from one place to the next. It is banning the single most common and inexpensive source of fuel there is and destroying every job related to the exploration. extraction, transport, refinery and distribution of fossil fuel and the rendering of 300 million automobiles and trucks as worthless and useless. Why? To satisfy some childish, utopian socialist dream. America is the land of the free. That comes to an end with a enactment of a totalitarian plan like this. The government simply has no authority to violate the rights of each and every American in this fashion. It should be rejected out of hand and its proponents laughed off the stage, but it isnt and thats whats scary.

That is simply not true. There will be a transition to renewables. Fossil fuels will be around for quite a while.

Eventually though, those working in that industry, can also transition to jobs in the other types of energy. It will probably take 50+ years, but we need to start sometime.

The article linked in the original post. Read article, comment on article.

I originally commented on the excerpt from the article.

After reading the entire article, does not change much of what I said.

The author is a typical conservative, using hyperbole, distorting the facts, and paints an inaccurate picture.

I do understand why it scares her, and other cons......taking the power from corporate America, into the hands of the American people, is something Republicans have feared since the Powell memo.

If all goes well, the tide will turn back in the direction of We the People....as the founders envisioned.
