There was no sign of Kim Jong Il at a closely watched parade Tuesday marking the 60th anniversary of North Korea's founding, and Western officials said the dictator - who has not appeared publicly for a month - may be gravely ill.
"There is reason to believe Kim Jong Il has suffered a serious health setback, possibly a stroke," the official said.

This could end up being extremely beneficial or extremely dangerous to the rest of the world. North Korea is ruled by a cult-personality, and if its leader ends up dead, it could collapse the entire regime. Its possible that less totalitarian and militaristic groups might end up in power. However, a power vacuum leading to civil war could be a disaster. North Korea has plenty of WMDs in their country, and instability could lead to them being distributed outside the country or even used.
