The city of Kherson (285,000) in south-central Ukraine has fallen. Russian armor is in the streets and Russian jets are flying very low over the city terrifying people. Power has been cut.

Ukrainian forces defending Mykolaiv (Nikolaev/476,000) which is the next city on the Russian westward arc of progress, have blown up the four lane Varvarivskyi Bridge over the South Bug River that connected the east and west banks of Mykolaiv.

This means that Russian forces will now almost be forced to attack Odesa (1,100,000) via marine amphibious landings. Russian forces can also attack Odesa from Transnistria to the west of Odesa Oblast.

Russian forces are fighting to capture all of Ukraine's coastlines and port cities.

Although the graphic information is a bit outdated, the map above will help you visualize some coastal cities in southern Ukraine.

Mariupol and Berdyansk are port cities on the Sea of Azov. Kherson, Mykolaiv, and Odesa are port cities on the Black Sea.

How many soldiers are in Transnistria? I would not think there is more than 10 000

Probably 8-10,000. However, Moscow can airlift in more via the Tiraspol airport.
