Oh your tax dollars at work in New Orleans!

Should we start counting up the tax dollars wasted in New Orleans?

While the Bush administration was faulted for not acting fast enough, the local goverment failed to act at all, leaving a parking lot full of buses sitting there instead of getting people out.

Don't panic - I'm not just defending the Bush administration - hold on!

FEMA actually spent a ton of tax payer $$s to bring in a cruise ship for suddenly homeless people to stay on. Very few people stayed on the boats, and the Cruise Line got THEIR cash no matter what.

Now we are finding out that quite a bit of the cash handed out to people to shelter and feed these guys was spent on porn, guns, booze, and massages!

We haven't even gotten to the BIG SCAM that is still coming, which it the act of handing over all that projected money to the local documentedly corrupt goverment for rebuilding New Orleans without so much as an over-seer to make sure the money is going to be used wisely!

 Just a 'feel-good' story for you to think about here at tax time!

This goes to show why many of the poor in this country are indeed poor, irresponsibility, lack of judgment, character, and motivation. I have seen the pictures of the hotels they were allowed to stay in, absolutely destroyed, nothing like showing your gratitude.

Hmmm .. imagine that .. why am I not surprised.....

But ya gotta figure iff your not smart enough to run from a cat 5 hurricane. Then your fiscal decisions may be suspect

This just shows the massive ineptitude of those in charge of our federal government. They say they are against large government spending, yet they give taxpayers' money out like candy?!?! Hypocricy galore.

And you place the blame for this on the government and not those that the money was given to. Is it me or is this a typical liberal stance? Never blame the person just the process. LMAO

Not to excuse any misuse of public funds, but let's put it into perspective, using the same Gregory D. Kutz.

Pentagon can't reconcile records with war's reality

"We don't know how badly managed it is," said Winslow T. Wheeler, director of a military reform project at the Center for Defense Information. "It's not that DOD flunks audits, it's that DOD's books cannot be audited. DOD aspires for the position where it flunks an audit. If this were a public company, it would have gone belly-up before World War II."

The accounting problems would cost taxpayers $13 billion in 2005, Gregory D. Kutz, a managing director for the investigative arm of Congress, the Government Accountability Office, told lawmakers last summer.

"That's $35 million a day," he added for emphasis.

What? They destroyed the hotels? Deegan, I totally agree. That infuriates me. They were living better in those hotels than they did in their own homes and this is how they repay us? Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Hey I think you're being too quick to judge. These people just lost everything, their houses, their possessions, the whole nine yards to the point where they're basically refugees in their own country.

Someone from FEMA comes along and hands these people who just lost everything some small pathetic amount of cash. They probably looked at the amount....realized they didn't have enough to buy a new house or even rent an apartment and so opted for booze, messages, porn, and a gun.

If I lost everything I might drink, I'd definitely need a message, the message might put me in the mood for porn, and after seeing the situation they went through on TV I'd say the gun is probably a good idea too.

Tis a shame, I can't even begin to justify such a waste of funds, but they obviously could!
