Karen Pence Is Working At A School That Bans Gay Employees

It's her choice, whatever. It does say something about her that she would teach at such a school.

I would bet that school for all their "biblical moralities" still have at least one person on staff who has been divorced.

Are you saying Mother should not work at a private Christian school?

She can work at a legal brothel in Nevada for all I care.

Weird, I don't see anything in there about discriminating against an employee on the basis of their sexual preference.

You don't think they are going to blast that out, do you? It isn't in their PR material, it's in the paperwork a new employee has to sign.

:doh

Of course she does...and she probably thinks you can pray the gay away....

She firmly believes you can pray it away. She and Mike are known for that.

"Spouse of high ranking politician takes job at institution known for intolerance" is news.

seems those who object to the schools beliefs are intolerant to those who accept them.

Maybe I can outline some of the things that were ****ed up in your post.

1. You tacitly endorsed discrimination against LGBT.

2. You proposed that LGB is taught.

We can pause there while you attempt to digest the bigotry you've spewn.

Freedom is a great thing. A private organization is free to select its members and other private individuals are free to protest that organization.

People can be taught how to be LGB or heterosexual, even if it is just etiquette or how to perform a sex act. I reject the idea that every single person was "born this way". I believe that some people, I have no idea how many, but certainly not zero, make a selection based upon how someone rubs them the right way. Others are who they are and that isn't 100%.

I've expressed no bigotry. I would not be welcome at that school but I don't object to the school having its policy. I would not want their policy to extend to public schools.

Religious institutions can determine their membership and employment based on their religion: exemption found in Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

No one is claiming that the school has no right to discriminate, just that such discrimination is disgusting. And is a high ranking public figure wise to take a job with such an institution? I think it's great that she has an occupation, and I think that teaching is an important role, but the intolerance is despicable.

I agree with other posters: Private schools should have the right to decide who attends them.

Just as a private social club has that right.

In our private lives, we all "discriminate" in one way or another.

That is fine.
But they should not be exempt from paying taxes.

Nice edit, I hadn't expected that level of dishonesty. If that is how you choose to debate, please move on.

You posted bigoted, ignorant garbage and I'm not moving anywhere. You should be ashamed.

What is import is if a person acts out against someone. Has members of that school acted out against a LGBT person in public?
It seems your message is if you don't have the same views as X, then you must be intolerant.

Should we be saying members of X political party are intolerant and despicable because they do not believe the same as people in Y political party?

As the song goes, "You see, ya can't please everyone, so ya got to please yourself"

Discriminating against employing LGBT teachers and staff IS acting out against them. Do you really not understand that?

The point, which so many are missing here, is that for such a public figure as the Vice President's wife to work for such an exclusive and intolerant organization is unwise, politically.

You posted bigoted, ignorant garbage and I'm not moving anywhere. You should be ashamed.

You quoted a portion of what I wrote, and ignored the part after the comma which clarified. That is dishonest. Not exactly the best way to take the high ground.

You also ignored the rest.

Do you believe that 100% of everyone that says that they are LGB was born that way and that 0% learned it from someone close (loving) to them?

You hedge your disgusting bigotry with "social aspects" which only deepens your ignorant crap. You'll never climb out of that black hole of dumbassery. Hopeless bigotry.

The school discriminates against LGBTQ people in its job application.

Karen Pence started at a job this week, teaching art at Immanuel Christian School in Northern Virginia. It’s not a school where very everyone is welcome. The 2018 employment application, posted online, makes candidates sign a pledge not to engage in homosexual activity or violate the “unique roles of male and female.”

“Moral misconduct which violates the bona fide occupational qualifications for employees includes, but is not limited to, such behaviors as the following: heterosexual activity outside of marriage (e.g., premarital sex, cohabitation, extramarital sex), homosexual or lesbian sexual activity, polygamy, transgender identity, any other violation of the unique roles of male and female, sexual harassment, use or viewing of pornographic material or websites,” says the application.

I think she can be excused because her husband talks to God.

Any woman who stays together with a man who scream's "Mother!" when climaxing has much more to worry about than where she works.

So what you are saying is that Christian school cannot have its religious beliefs. We will disagree in that I believe a private school has a right to hold to their standards in hiring.

As far as politics, I can agree it may be a bad move. imo, Trump and Pence is most likely a one term Presidency.

Then move on. If you can't answer the question, which was straightforward, why should I spend any further time responding.

You live for these pronouncements, to me they are of little interest.

Your comments are bigoted ignorant garbage. The attempt to qualify that horse**** with "and social aspects" does nothing but deepen the ignorance presented.

The speed of your reply is proportionate with the quality.

One simple question, I guess they don't teach how to answer those in PhD school.

Not surprising, she and her husband have a long standing tone of intolerance and bigotry. Working somewhere that has this sort of policy is damn near expected.

You didn't turn down a chance to advertise your own bigotry.

I see no issue with this. The school is a private Christian school.

Yep.

I disagree with most of the ideals and “moral code” that the school chooses to promote. I’d never send my kids there. And I question that in an era where the vast majority of the country is accepting (and with the trend toward more acceptance), whether the optics of this are good for the Pence’s and the GOP as a whole.

But I can’t say that the school doesn’t have the absolute right to do what it does, nor does Mrs. Pence not have the right to work there.
