Lawmakers in Kansas are considering abolishing Columbus Day and replacing the national holiday with Indigenous People’s Day.

Members of the Kansas House Federal and State Affairs Committee heard testimony from several Native Americans earlier this week from several people backing the change, The Topeka Capital-Journal reported Wednesday.

My personal feeling is that Columbus Day be turned into Indigenous People's Day country wide & that flags that day should be flown upside down as a sign of distress.

Cue the conservatives to tell us we're "erasing history" like the Taliban if we don't have a holiday for the mass murdering asshole Columbus.

Don't really feel any need to protect a day celebrating Columbus, but don't see a need for an American Indian day either. I guess whatever floats your boat. Just don't touch my Thanksgiving or Christmas. I need that turkey fix for the year.

It will be interesting to see how the stores handle the new Indigenous Day sales. The schools and banks will still be closed. You can still get wampum from the ATM machines
