Compare and contrast your thoughts and observations on a Trump rally and Kamala Harris's Town Hall meeting she held tonight with the American populace. ( 1/28/2019 )

Not even a contest.

Harris would run the board in all the swing states.

She'd win women, college educated whites, independents and moderates by a country mile.

Don't put the cart before the horse. First she has to get her own Party's nomination.

All's I say is that she'd better step up her game. I'm not onboard at the moment. I went to her website to find out more about her and she doesn't even have an, "ISSUES" page. Right now she's just primping and people are falling in line. I need more than that. I wanna see the issues and what she fights for. Her track record is that she's fast-tracking herself for this presidential run. I need more than "we need to be on another path". I need to know what her path actually is.

Listen to her speech, she did a good job of spelling out her beliefs and goals if she became President.

She has a voting record and an issues page. Put together you should have a pretty good picture of her.

Can you link the issues page? I went to kamalaharris.org and the closest thing I see is, "Meet Kamala Harris" page and it's not much about listing and laying out issues.

Yep, but those pesky issues are far less fun than saying "I'm for the people" and I will give you free stuff which you definitely deserve to have "the rich" give you loads more of.

I'm wide open to learn about her. There just seems to be immense pressure to get behind her at this point and I want to know why. With Bernie or Elizabeth Warren, there is absolutely no wondering where they stand. They are at the forefront for me at this point... but I do want to know more about Kamala and it's frustrating that there is so much noise and not much content put up front.

Seems pretty Obamaesque to me... and not in a good way:

Also notable is that employees of CNN's parent company happen to be Kamala's biggest source of individual donations thus far; it's probably not much of a coincidence that she got this exclusive town hall with them.

She stated during her Oakland, CA speach that she was for "Medicare For All" yet, of course, made no refereance to H.R. 676 or any other M4A bill.

Companies should provide contraception under ObamaCare

Kamala Harris is attacking company owners whose religious beliefs may be at odds with stipulations found in ObamaCare. Harris' office filed a brief asking the Supreme Court to review whether businesses can be exempt from providing contraception coverage. Specifically, she's attacking businesses where owners may disagree with specific contraception types for religious reasons:
"Under the ACA, all Americans have the right to access affordable, quality healthcare, including contraception. For-profit companies should not be able to deny women access to healthcare based on the religious beliefs of the company's owners. The 10th circuit ruling should be reversed by the US Supreme Court."

The list of ObamaCare exemptions includes one on religion: anyone who is "conscientiously opposed to accepting any insurance benefits," which some say includes Muslim groups. This portion of the law was apparently written specifically for the Amish, but it may play a role in the fight over ObamaCare.

Opposes repealing mandated health insurance.

Harris opposes the CC survey question on nationalized healthcare
The Christian Coalition Voter Guide inferred whether candidates agree or disagree with the statement, 'Repealing the Nationalized Health Care System that Forces Citizens to Buy Insurance or Pay Fines' The Christian Coalition notes, "You can help make sure that voters have the facts BEFORE they cast their votes. We have surveyed candidates in the most competitive congressional races on the issues that are important to conservatives."

Kamala Harris on Health Care

I'm not against her. I just don't know her and want to know more. So don't assume I'm on your side of trashing her.

I'm presenting the counterpoint; revealing salient facts about her history which should be of concern to any progressive isn't 'trashing' persay.

In general, I've done my homework on the woman and I really don't like what I've discovered.

A not-unfair argument. We know exactly where Warren and Sanders stand.

It should be assumed that if you’re voting for a Democrat then you’re voting for unrestricted access to contraception. If you prefer restrictions on contraceptives then you should vote for a candidate from another party.

This is very early in the 2020 POTUS campaign, but I agree 100% that candidates should provide as much depth as possible on their issue positions. The top issue, for many voters, is health care and Kamala Harris as professed that she favors "Medicare For All" which, it seems, is simply the new way of saying UHC or single-payer with little or no relationship to Medicare as it exists today.

When I searched for bills fitting that description I came up with H.R. 676 bearing that title. When I hear a candidate say that they are for "mMedicare For All" then this bill is what I believe they are talking about unless they state otherwise.

This bill establishes the Medicare for All Program to provide all individuals residing in the United States and U.S. territories with free health care that includes all medically necessary care, such as primary care and prevention, dietary and nutritional therapies, prescription drugs, emergency care, long-term care, mental health services, dental services, and vision care.

Only public or nonprofit institutions may participate. Nonprofit health maintenance organizations (HMOs) that deliver care in their own facilities may participate.

Patients may choose from participating physicians and institutions.

Health insurers may not sell health insurance that duplicates the benefits provided under this bill. Insurers may sell benefits that are not medically necessary, such as cosmetic surgery benefits.

The bill sets forth methods to pay institutional providers and health professionals for services. Financial incentives between HMOs and physicians based on utilization are prohibited.

The program is funded: (1) from existing sources of government revenues for health care, (2) by increasing personal income taxes on the top 5% of income earners, (3) by instituting a progressive excise tax on payroll and self-employment income, (4) by instituting a tax on unearned income, and (5) by instituting a tax on stock and bond transactions. Amounts that would have been appropriated for federal public health care programs, including Medicare, Medicaid, and the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP), are transferred and appropriated to carry out this bill.

The program must give employment transition benefits and first priority in retraining and job placement to individuals whose jobs are eliminated due to reduced clerical and administrative work under this bill.

The Department of Health and Human Services must create a confidential electronic patient record system.

The bill establishes a National Board of Universal Quality and Access to provide advice on quality, access, and affordability.

The Indian Health Service must be integrated into the program after five years. Congress must evaluate the continued independence of Department of Veterans Affairs health programs.

I do not want to have to assume anything. This is the Information Age and it is incumbent on any serious POTUS candidate to provide potential voters as much detail on their issue positions as possible. If "Medicare For All" means unrestricted taxpayer funded contraceptives then Kamala Harris should simply say so outright.

She was more ready than the entire GOP 2016 field last time. I suspect we will be seeing one or two more drop outs within the next month (Yes a few more people will jump in though), especially if Harris keeps up with her seemingly traditional media campaign. She can't just disappear and come back in four months. She, and I think she knows this, has to continue holding onto the spotlight. If she does. She'll quickly grab the nomination.

Nah...she can kind of coast for a bit...work her ground game..she doesnt need all that media just yet..

Kama had a large gathering. She will no doubt rival Trump's following in the coming months. She may have some pretty bad ideas but she is likely one of the best hopes of firing up the democrat base of assorted unAmerican radical leftists, socialists, communists, anarchists, Marxists and ungodly humanists of any democrat candidate running. Plus, she is black and that should be useful to campaign workers skilled in energizing black voter turnout and risky black democrat illegal vote stuffing.

Seven unfounded derogatory terms.....well done! :2rofll:

That still does not indicate if she favors H.R. 676 or not. Like I said, she spouts many "progressive" talking points that lack much depth. I have read news reports that she supports "Sanders' upcoming bill" - hard to tell exactly what that means.

Harris’s new support for Sanders’ coming bill helps confirm its status as moving much closer to the Democratic Party mainstream. “It's so much better people have meaningful access to affordable health care at every stage from birth on,” Harris told the crowd. “This is about understanding health care should be a right, and not a privilege.”

Seven unfounded derogatory terms.....well done! :2rofll:

Derogatory terms:

Leftists. It is derogatory. Do not subscribe to leftist liberal silliness.
Socialism and socialists. Also unAmerican, atheistic, and destructive.
Anarchists. Uncivilized barbarians.
Marxists. Greedy atheists seeking to confiscate the power and wealth of others.
Ungodly humanists. Enemies of God.
Black. Not a derogatory term.
Black democrat voter fraud. Very derogatory term for despicable cheats in American elections.
