Justice Dept: Vote won't alter crimefighting

By Jonathan Stempel

NEW YORK | Thu Nov 4, 2010 12:59pm EDT

NEW YORK (Reuters) - The big Republican gains during the midterm elections will not change the Obama administration's approach to prosecuting crime, a top Justice Department official said on Thursday, amid criticism the department has been slow to prosecute Wall Street.

"We're going to do nothing differently," Lanny Breuer, assistant attorney general for the Justice Department's criminal division, said on the sidelines of a Practising Law Institute conference on enforcement and the financial crisis.

"What we're doing is absolutely apolitical," he continued. "The prosecution of crimes is apolitical. That has zero to do with the composition of Congress."

Lawmakers and others have questioned the lack of prosecution of top Wall Street executives who many Americans believe deserve to be held more responsible for the financial crisis.

There's no doubt why the top Wall Street executives weren't prosecuted. Just look at Obama's 2008 donor list.

You don't need to be a rocket scientist to figure what's going on. Add that to the lack or prosecution of the NBP case and you have a very political Justice Dept.

Were you trying to say that those contributions to Barack Obama's campaign by those banks were considered a "sub-prime investment"? LOL

Where I would like to see some effort put is into Harry Reid's voter fraud that gave him a victory when there was no way he was going to win without SEIU help manipulating the voting machines and or illegal alien votes.

Four separate Rasmussen polls prior to the election had Angle in the lead.

A few days before the election her lead was extended to four points, at 49% to 45%.

Exit polls showed Ried could not win and yet he did.

How? There will be no investigation unless we raise holy hell about this. It is a crime and Reids Son is part of it.

County commissioner for Clark County is Harry Reid’s son Rory, who will do nothing and the rest of the State is pretty much controlled by SEIU.

This was cooked from the word go, but the Obamedia has said nothing about it

A similar thing happened in California where illegal aliens are allowed to vote as they are in Arizona, and Nevada.

I was pointing out the one who invested heavily in sub prime investments also invested heavily in Obama and are now not being prosecuted for malfeasance. But Obama was a sub prime investment too.

They didn't show he "could not win." Clearly he was the underdog going into the night. FiveThirtyEight rated his chances of holding his Senate seat at about 20%. But 20% is not 0%. He wasn't down by such a huge margin that it was unthinkable that he could have won.

It amazes me that after a Republican landslide election, you are throwing a tantrum about one of the few competitive races that the Republicans lost.

Interesting. Down by 4, won by 5 a 9 point spread.

Not entirely impossible, suspicious perhaps.

SEIU did help Reid, they voted for him.

I guess this means that the DOJ still won't do anything about racial hate groups, intimidating voters at the polls.

I live in Nevada and the fact is that MANY die hard Relublicans would not vote for that bat **** crazy angle.

It's clear you have sour grapes. The GOP snatched defeat from victory by putting Angle up as their nominee. If you want to blame someone, blame those that put up Angle.

Yeah because black men standing around are soo intimidating. If people were intimidated by that, they are big pussies. Go cry to someone else with your kleenex.

So, when white KKK members are at the polls, with ax handles; you're going to be cool with that? Because, "white men are so intimidating"? Because, "anyone intimidated by white klansmen standing outside the polls are pussies"?

Somehow, I don't think you'll be singing the same tune. Just a hunch, though.
