John Kasich Will Be the Republican Nominee for President

They may be right.
I don't think he's the most likely winner of the general election, however.

In fact, I'm going to go out on a limb here and predict that Hillary will be the ultimate winner despite not being so popular among the Democrats, this because of the Republicans' inability to field an electable candidate.

That may be. Hillary starts out with a slight edge. But at least Cruz (probably) protects the Senate.

We had the most winnable national election of a generation. And we chose to **** it all up with a loud mouthed orange faced moron. We really are the Stupid Party.

The pundits have gotten it wrong from the beginning, why are you believing their spin now? Btw:

RealClearPolitics - Election 2016 - 2016 Republican Presidential Nomination

Kasich hasn't moved in months, in any polling. The only win he's looking at is a VP slot.

I think you are underestimating the power of self-delusion here. Kasich probably does think of himself as some kind of saving angel. Not because he is one, but because he's in ****ing la-la land, where the past 9 months haven't happened.

Lindsey Graham said it best.

Probably true. If, on the other hand, they nominate Trump, they've also shot themselves in the foot by picking a nominee that a significant portion of the electorate thinks is totally unacceptable. They're sort of caught between a rock and a hard place.

Basically they are damn if they do and damned if they don't. Of course the question then should be which republican loss in the general election is more beneficial in the long run. If Trump loses the general then it will be seen as a referendum against anti-illegal immigration laws and border security. And despite Trump being liberal the RINOs and liberal democrat will try to push this as a referendum against conservatism. If Kasich loses the general then will be seen as a referendum against RINOs and the republican establishment.

an if Cruz loses the general, then maybe we'll quit hearing about how the Republican lost because he wasn't conservative enough.

I am not too sure that argument can be made when the last two presidential elections they ran McCain in 2008 and a even bigger RINO Romney in 2012. It should have been common sense that people who spoke out against Obama-care, anti-2nd amendment laws, man made global warming fairy nonsense, and other liberal issues should have never propped up Romney in 2012.

That's because Cruz hasn't lost the election yet. The reason he hasn't lost yet is that the GOP hasn't run him yet.

Because they are my first go-to source for data analysis: worth noting: 538 says that Ted Cruz is the most likely winner of a contested convention.

That's because Ted Cruz has done a much better job wrangling delegates. Furthermore the delegates vote for the rules and the Delegates can allow rule 40 (You must win at least 8 states to be on the ballot after the first ballot etc) to remain. Trump's knowledge of how delegates work and vote is laughable. However what's really unforgivable is that despite the number of staffers he did have, none of them were knowledgeable about the delegate system either. Kasich hasn't got a prayer because he has done an awful job getting delegates too. It's gonna be Cruz if it's a contested convention.

If the GOP loses the election it has nobody to blame but themselves. Not Trump, not Hillary, not the media.

Trump gained traction because of the issues he spoke about. Nothing was stopping the establishment from running on those issues except they were too blind and indifferent to the concerns of their base.

There have been a few immigrants who came to this country legally and are quite upset with the notion of people being able to cut in line and not make sacrifices to enter this country.

The establishment's policy in the middle-east has been laughably incompetent and Trump spoke a different message.

Our trade deals are really bad and hurting American workers. Look at all the establishment candidates: all of them favor our bad trade deals.

Now Trump fumbled the ball because he was a terrible messenger. However his message still has value and it's the GOP establishment's fault for not recognizing the value of that message.

With the exception of trade, everything you mention was already being talked about, and even on trade there was opposition to the TPP. Trump didn't bring up any new issues, he got $2bn in free media for acting provocatively, and Republicans were dumb enough to FSK for it.
