Well .. I wouldn't go that far .. maybe .. .. ..

Regardless, The Speaker of the House has recently done two great things for American citizens:

1) Refused to bring the egregious Senate amnesty and legalization bill before the House, a bill that would have allowed 20 million illegals to keep their ill-gotten gains at the justice expense of millions of American citizens and the entire American citizenry in general, and ..

2) Implored the President to, in addition to giving businesses a year's delay in requiring them to provide health insurance for their employees, also give individual citizens a year's delay in having to pay a tax fine for being unable to allocate money to buy health insurance, health insurance that, under Obamacare, isn't going to provide individuals the greatest care in the world for the money.

Now, to some this may not seem all that much.

But to American citizens, to individual citizens, to those tired of being on the receiving end of D.C. politicians' injustice-based vote-pandering and ideological compulsions, this is pretty darn huge ..

.. Quite folksy, in fact, patriotic too ..

.. And, considering all the liberal fringes he's going to really piss off and who'll level their sights heavily on him as a result ..

.. Absolutely heroic .. ..

.. .. Perhaps.

If he keeps this type of loyal-to-American-citizens up .. well, in no time at all, people are going to start shouting "Boehner For President!" ..

.. And, rightly so.

And when we dont pass this bill pretty much they will remain here. Pretty much a loose loose for Republicans.

Now, now -- don't forget what Boehner said when he refused to bring the egregious Senate amnesty and legalization American-citizen-injustice bill before the House: that the House will look at the matter and create their own bill .. one that likely will have tough border security and no amnesty and legalization for illegals, complete with a strategy for getting the 20 million criminals out of America cheaply.

Let's see now, we do not enforce the current immigraiton law, as written, yet the new dreamy/amnesty version will be accompanied by "strict enforcement". Did we not hear this exact same BS in 1986? We ended up granting "special status" to about 3 million "undocumented" folks - but that was a generation and about 11 million illegal aliens ago.

Still does not change the fact that its a loose loose for republicans.

Meh, but a win - win for America. Look, it's only lose - lose for republicans because they're busy trying to dial in their platform and they've allowed the opposing party to dictate the parameters. They either will or will not find their sweet spot again. However, Boehner finally got something right (for the moment), though I'm not sure his motives are golden nor if he intends to turn this whole thing into something equally heinous.

Ah, but, as usual, you're missing the point.

The point of this thread is that the great majority of American citizens enthusiastically support Boehner's two acts listed in the OP.

Thus he's scoring huge points with the great majority of American citizens.

Maybe sufficient to not only garner him laudable attention, but raise both the consciousness and hope of American citizens .. complete with his name attached to them.

Who knows .. .. the Presidency .. .. maybe?

I'd rather lose by doing nothing than lose by making things worse.

So increasing border security to the (in the words of John McCain) "the most militarized border since the Berlin Wall" and establishing a very lengthy lengthy amnesty program is worse than doing nothing?

Really? :?:
Poll: 71 percent back immigration bill similar to Senate proposal - The Hill's Blog Briefing Room
"Voters broadly support an immigration reform proposal that includes a pathway to citizenship, increased border security, employer verification requirements and allowing more high-skilled and guest workers into the country, according to a new poll published Monday.
The FWD.us survey found that 71 percent of all voters, including 74 percent of conservative Republicans and 78 percent of liberal Democrats, supported a plan similar to the Gang of Eight proposal that will begin markup this week in the Senate. Some 68 percent of "swing voters" also say they back the proposal, which has been endorsed by President Obama."

OK, its imigration enforcement 101 time. Border security is currently staffed with 20K agents now (proposed increase of 100% to 40K border agents) and can slow about 60% of the illegal alien flow (the other 40% came legally but have overstayed their visits), but that still leaves only 5K ICE agents to deal with 98% of the rest of the country. Assuming that maybe half of the current 11 million will qualify for "amnesty", that still leaves 5K ICE agents to deal with the over 5+ million remaining current illegals plus those uncounte d others that will rush in to replace the 5+ million then allowed to demand better pay/working conditions using their new "legal" amnesty status. Rinse and repeat...

The only way to really stop illegal aliens is to deny them any chance of employment, education, driver's permits or any other gov't services - the bill addresses none of that. The laughable plan to use E-verify (phased in, over time, naturally) for all "new" hires at "large" businesses is a total joke (now about 7% of employers use that system).

Yes, really.

Because whenever internet home pages post news articles on the happenings of this egregious amnesty and legalization bill, unsolicited reader comments are always 10 to 1 against this bill.

That's a much more reliable source, and, though the same polls predicted similar support to a similar amnesty and legalization bill a few years ago, the House phones were so tied up with people voicing their opposition to that bill that it was killed, because the people wised-up quickly.

When people know the fact-based truths associated with the topical matter, when all of the misinformation they've received from the media and ideologues left and right has been wiped away by the truth, people then oppose such a bill by a temendous margin.

That's what happened earlier this century .. and, it's happening again.

Americans who support this egregious amnesty and legalization bill come in one of four groups: 1) those who don't truly know what's in it, 2) those who don't grasp the damaging effects it will have on the American infrastructure and economy and are codependently trying rescue the "poor illegals", 3) those who are simply ideologically pandering for a political power-play for their liberal Democrat political party, or 4) are Republicans erroneously thinking pandering to Hispanics will cause Hispanic illegals once legalized to vote to vote for Republicans, when these illegals will always remember that their champion was the liberal Democrats, the "workers'" party.

That Americans polled aren't armed with the fact-based truths on the matter is sad.

That those responding to internet articles are armed with the fact-based truths about the bill and thus oppose it 10 to 1 and they will continue to spread the truth about the bill to others is meaningful.

That Boehner, who knows the damage this horrific bill would unleash upon America's citizens, has rightly killed this pander bill, is thus rather darn heroic.

In the 2012 House elections, more votes were cast for Dems than Repubs, yet Repubs still have a large majority. How is that possible? And where has the real architect been hiding, the reviled Cantor? Boehner allowed 25 TEApubs to cause a downgrade with the "218" rule.

District voting 101: Say a state has 3 districts each with 1 million voters, district 1 goes 1,000,000 to ZERO for a demorat, district 2 goes 600,000 to 400,000 for a republicant and district 3 goes 600,000 to 400,000 for a republicant. The demorats got 1,800,000 votes and the repubicants got only 1,200,000 votes but republicants have that state's House seats 2 to 1 over the demorats.

So, the minority of votes rules in the people's House. And 46 Senators from the several sparsely populated states can block action. Who said Democracy had run amok?

People like the general ideas (talking points) of many bills, especially those not yet quite ready for publication, but often do not agree with many of the particulars when (if?) they actually get told of them. For example: the super popular "reasonable restriction" national gun control bill, touted as having nearly 90% public approval, did not pass and no great fuss exists to resurrect another one (yet).
