Sad to hear that we lost a very funny guy. Joe Flaherty was a regular on SCTV, was amazing as the dad in Freaks and Geeks, and was all over the movies in Stripes, 1941, Back to The Future II, as well as being well known for Second City and National Lampoon.

He drew laughs as Guy Caballero, Count Floyd, Big Jim McBob and others on the famed sketch comedy show after Second City stints in Chicago and Toronto.

I’ve gone long, long stretches without access to a TV, but I did have the good fortune to see Joe Flaherty on SCTV.

I loved Sammy Maudlin, Vic Arpeggio, Count Floyd/Floyd Robertson, et al.
