One of the reasons Biden's speech was so powerful to me is that it wasn't ideological. It was about decency. And that decency is missing in our culture wars brought on by populism. Growing up and interested in politics, I found the system slow and boring and mostly benefiting the entrenched power. And much of that is true. But I was spoiled and took it for granted as an impediment to change and improvement. I didn't notice it until it was gone. But what has replaced it is truly a horror show. Its so hopeful and gratifying to see it articulated again.

the whole thing was just so American and what we're missing.

next week will bring the hate, whining and passing blame. which will be supported by tough, independent Southern men who believe in hard work and personally responsibility.

The GOP convention should be very interesting to contrast the two.

Hope vs Hate

Oh I know they will be, the haters will love the GOP convention, many Americans will have their OMG moment.

"their" country is in jeopardy.

Decency isn't ideological? His speech was nothing more than vacuous-bromide soup. It smacked of Obama's speech, which is not surprising, given Biden's history of plagiarism.
But it was meant to appeal to those who run on emotion, and obviously that resonated with you.

Van Jones said on CNN, and I quote, "Whoever wrote Biden's speech deserves a cookie"

That says it all.

I can't believe he meant it as a complement.
