This needs to go to the SC.
 
It's a guaranteed win for Kimmel. No media personality has EVER been fired for anything they said before this. On top of that you've got Trump ordering the hit directly. It's no different than murder!!!
 
I believe Kimmel would win, but does he really want to be part of such a case is the question.

Why wouldn't he?
What has he got to lose?
He can show the President is doing illegal things and make jokes about it while he does so.

If this case does end up in the supreme court and he wins in a 9-0 finding do you think MAGA fans will accept the result?

How will Trump manage to find a way to completely ignore the rulling as well all know he will.

I can not speak for MAGA fans, but personally I don't care if he wins or not. I don't watch Kimmel, and if he comes back, he comes back.

He's not even available on UK tv as far as I know.
This is about the whole point of there being freedom of speech in the US.
You either have it and people on tv can say what they or you don't and you may as well have state controlled TV.
 


The operative word being "should", but this is not a SCOTUS that is interested in justice or upholding the Constitution, its a SCOTUS that is interested in power, even though it currently has none (so call it relevance, rather than power), and the quiet enjoyment of their corruption. Many of the Thomas and Alito running buddies (or should we say "benefactors") actually want democracy to end to preserve their generational wealth and power.

For SCOTUS to appear relevant, they have to generally side with Trump, which is largely what we have seen of them over the last two years. The SCOTUS is lost. It is not going to stop the slide to autocracy; its going to justify it.

America's slide to autocracy is probably at the 80% completion level within 1 year of Trump taking power. I am not optimistic we can stop it as there are too many ignoramuses enabling it and not enough patriots saying "no"

Autocracies are great for the few ... those with political power and their oligarchs. They are lethal for the many and bad for the overall economy (see also Russia). When the US economy fails, it will be interesting to see what nation rises. However, the US failing will bring a century of darkness (economic challenge, depression) and political instability (wars) to the world. I fear for our children as they will not know the America we knew.

I'm no lawyer, but it seems like an uphill battle directly linking the firing to Trump.

Trump didn't fire him, he just said it would be good.

We'd need the backroom conversation and details of whatever threat was made, and I'm not sure we have that.

It's not enough that it seems obvious what happened.

So any one should be able to make fun of horrible things that any group does? Use the N word without consequence?

You really need to watch or read what he actually said. You should if you want to comment on this. Rather, it appears you are merely accepting the interpretation of others what he said. As a result, the one thing that is not actually true is your post.

The only thing he blamed MAGA for was their knee jerk reaction (it could not have been one of us, it had to be liberals) and politicizing this, the latter of which is absolutely true. He did not say a MAGA person did this.

That is also quite rich given the number of MAGA's that still, to this day, try to say Jan 6 was a false flag operation. No one, to my knowledge, was fired for expressing that idiotic viewpoint.

I disagree. SCOTUS is currently a rubber stamp for Trump. If it wasn't Trump's FCC, then Kimmel would win, but SCOTUS is firmly in Trump's grasp.

Yes, and Trump has finally snapped and decided to go scorched earth on the media for the crime of not being a sychophant and praising him.

If you honestly can't see the difference between open racism and simply not liking Trump or his policies and actions then I can't help you.
