The left fuming over fre speech in light of this. And I have sided with them already.

But I hope I remember to drag this thread up years from now when the dems are large and in charge.

Any reasonable political spectator should expect then left to do the same thing and more when the time comes. If the new standard holds, they will run with it, and push to test the new limits.
Joe Rogan may get the axe from government pressure. It's "dangerous disinformation" .

Wasn't it the left that took Trump's free speech. Snapchat, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter all banned Trump. Wow, the left didn't defend his right of free speech? LOL. As always different rules for the lefties.
 

I disagree.

There is no downside for Republicans because they know Democrats will not treat them the same when, or if, they are back in power. There is no way Sinclair Broadcasting has their licenses threatened if they do not fire people or change their editorial content if Democrats control the FCC.

He also followed up Kimmel's dismissal by calling for Myers and some other Late Nighter to be canned (i forgot the other name).
 
Pff — Democrats and liberals can be navie. When the Obama administration tried to block a Fox News reporter over outlandish lies that allegedly compromised national security, White House journalists threw a tantrum and forced the administration to allow the reporter back. When the government went after Rush Limbaugh, the ACLU came to his defense. PBS’s NewsHour even ran a multipart series about why the media must be free from government ridicule during the Obama years. I hope they learned their lesson. Being “fair and balanced” is seen by some as a sign of weakness, and they’ll exploit you the moment they get the chance.

Wrong. Again. Obama didn't threaten to shut down FB. They just wanted less disinformation spread there.

Whereas Carr deliberately strong-armed ABC.

This comes as no surprise. more Republicans in Congress will join will critical of a Republican President attacking free speech.

CNN reports, "GOP Sen. Ted Cruz on Friday denounced Federal Communications Commission Chairman Brendan Carr’s threats to pull ABC’s broadcast license as “unbelievably dangerous” and compared some of his rhetoric to “mafioso” tactics.

"In an episode of his podcast, “Verdict with Ted Cruz,” released on Friday, the Texas Republican said he was “thrilled” Jimmy Kimmel was pulled off the air by ABC over his comments about conservative influencer Charlie Kirk. But he said he strongly disagreed with the government policing speech, asserting it could come back to bite conservatives when Democrats retake power.

“I hate what Jimmy Kimmel said. I am thrilled that he was fired,” Cruz said. “But let me tell you: If the government gets in the business of saying, ‘We don’t like what you, the media, have said. We’re going to ban you from the airwaves if you don’t say what we like,’ that will end up bad for conservatives.”

In essence, that is exactly what Trump has been saying.
