What say you all. Will Kimmel meet Sinclair's demands? Should he?

Sinclair, the broadcasting company that makes up the nation's largest ABC affiliate group, is giving a list of demands for Jimmy Kimmel to return to air following the show being "indefinitely" pulled.

Sinclair wants Kimmel to...

"issue a direct apology to the Kirk family" and for him to make a "meaningful personal donation to the Kirk Family and Turning Point USA," Kirk's nonprofit that advocates for conservative politics on high school, college and university campuses.

Apologize for what?

Thats the thing I'm not sure of. On the relevant segment he didn't criticize Kirk or his family. Why should he apologize to them?

He insulted MAGA. But we all do that.
He basically has to agree to be neutered and made acceptable.

To kneel before MAGA.

If what I've seen and read is the extent of it, he has far less to apologise for than the rightists who have been celebrating Kirk's murder, partying since he hit the floor.

It was Kimmel's mocking of Trump. Referencing Kirk was just the "red herring" that was used to try and justify what happened and deflect away from the FCC merger component.

Here's the comment that got him in trouble:

“We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them, and doing everything they can to score political points from it. In between the finger-pointing, there was grieving".

He characterized the murderer as MAGA, which set MAGA off on a world class temper tantrum.

From what I've seen, Kimmel has a backbone and integrity and he made millions each year so he is in a position to give them a big "**** you". I'll be surprised if he apologizes. I'm more concerned about Guillermo.

Sinclair doesn't like the heat from either side, so if they can get Kimmel to publicly shame himself, they figure the contempt for Kimmel afterwards will take the heat off of them.

For the record this is the statement Kimmel issued immediately following Kirk's murder...

"BUH BUH BUH THEN HE SUGGESTED MAGAs WERE EXPLOITING KIRK'S MURDER FOR POLITICAL GAIN! THIS CANNOT GO UNPUNISHED! HE MUST BE BROUGHT TO HEEL!"

When, and how, did this become possible? Damn. Just a few years ago this kind of thing would be the subject of a fictional description of a dystopian future. Trump has not only made it possible, he has made it, for much of America, acceptable. In a very short timespan.
This must have been festering, incubating deep inside the body for awhile now. This kind of sea-change can't happen overnight.
Can it?

Hopefully he tells these Cheeto cowards to pound sand.

He should tell Sinclair to eat shit and take their demand for an apology and shove it up their ass.

That's what I'm hoping he decides to do. His salary is about 16 million according to Forbes. I assume ABC has to pay out his contract if they want him gone.

Hopefully he's got a bit of a nest egg to bridge him to his next opportunity.

Disney boycotts and cancelations are occurring nation wide.
I have adamantly refused to boycott for any 'political' reasons because I did not find direct company policies sufficiently harmful to enough people to cause me to want the company to fold - until now.

This is not about some CEO who as a private person says he disapproves of same sex marriage, or some tangential connection to some fossil fuel industry practice. this is much more direct and much more dangerous than any other business practice.

I think a boycott is the right pressure on the right lever, for the right reason. Au Revoir Hulu.
