I'm not a believer, but that bible thing is quite a funky read. Course you can't believe most of it (Mary was a virgin, yeah right, that's what Britney said), but there are some ideas in there that ring true.

Ok, so Jesus was a bit deranged, thinking he was god's son and all that, and he sure liked his glass of wine and his hookers (well, must have been hard in those days being the illegitimate son of a refugee carpenter and a chick who was so off her head on drugs she saw angels), but he said a few things like: all men are equal, do unto others as you would do to you, he believed in helping the poor, and it says somewhere in there that it'd be easier for a camel to get through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to get to heaven. So really, wasn't this jesus actually the first ever communist?

Dear Urethra. You have great insight and i never think of things in this way before. i think our recent religious freedoms must be due to fact we realise jesus is communist after all. I think that must make Bush and his kind the devil - supporting capitalism and inequality, promoting hatred and death. We are taught that most religious people are hypocritics who sleep with prostitute and beat their women. I think if the world really did follow the teachings of this Jesus then all world is true communist and we all live happy peaceful lives.

Its makes me wonder if jesus is in fact Chinese !!!!

Interesting theory. However, Communism has the government doling out the goodies for the benefit of all, and you know how sticky those goodies can be! What Jesus evidently had in mind was extreme philanthropy motivated by a feeling of brotherhood. As an economic theory this lacks a certain je ne sais quois.

Economic systems are operated by people who have their own private motivations, greed being one that must be mentioned. The problem with Communism is that there really is not much motivation to work; most are content to let the other guy do it. The problem with Capitalism is that there are people willing to work their tails off, but have every incentive not to allow their fellows to share in the proceeds. In that it encourages production, greed is good. The trick is to find some other force that will moderate the greed so that the prosperity is spread around. The framers of our Constitution made an attempt at balance of power, but it has failed us.

FRIED RICE - Sir I think Jesus is representation of Communist government.

You are obviously in a better position to observe the working of your system than me. Your observations, I'm afraid, sound more like something out of Mao's little red book. I won't be here to learn what you think in twenty years. In the meantime, try not to breathe the air.

You weren't watching "The Life of Brian" when you penned this were you? That's hilarious. Least I thought it was. Though, no doubt, some serious religious types are currently planing your burning at the stake. Fret not St. Joan, most can't afford the airfare.

Christ and his disciples proved that communism doesn't work in groups larger then 12.

I don't know about communist, although the bible is against capitalism - I know that. He was the first hippie though, you can just imagine him sitting on the grass, smoking some grass, protesting, getting beat up by police, getting the muchies and whipping up loaf and fishes for him and his compatres.

Garza,

Might I suggest finding "Jesus Was Way Cool" by King Missile.

I think you might get a kick out of it.

The only shocks here is how quickly your country is draining away.

Latest Economic growth rate indictors released in Jan. show an increase beyond predictions. According to the US Commerce Dept. The improvement reflected more robust spending by businesses on capital equipment and on inventories of goods. The trade deficit also was less of a drag on the fourth quarter than was initially thought.

So Pacridge happy.

And why do you say the Bible is against capitalism?

I heard on a documentary somewhere about how christainity has sucessfully adapted capitalism, despite the teachings of the bible. Think about it "money is the root of all evil", "a camel will travel through the eye of a needle sooner than a rich man will get into heaven". The bible is full of giving money to the less fortunate. Christainity's roots is based in socialism, I'm not really a socialist myself but it is.

This is why I'm always so shocked that Republicans are considered 'morally superior' to Dems. This is Christian morality, of course. The Bible mentions over and over to help the poor, and yet the Republicans always help the rich and mighty. What morality do they have?

Money is not the root of all evil.

"For the love of money is the root of all evil" 1 Timothy 6:10

There is a difference.

S

Scared

That is one of the misquoted sayings in the world, and the world does need some sort of monetary system, especially with 6 billion people. Bartering doesn't work for numbers that large, and the alternative is complete anarchy.

More on subject, I say this article somewhere saying how modern socialism is closest in principle to what Jesus was teaching. (Kinda ironic considering the Republican diehard capitalist ideals.)

True Batman - I'm not a bible guy, but I think the bible envisioned, take the money you need and give the rest to the less fortunate. However capitalism tends to make the rich richer and poor stays where they are poor, the gap therefore widens. Capitalism is about making money and more money, pure communism (not Stalinist Communism) spreads the wealth about, however it is hard to acheive. I am a moderate Capitalist and non-christain, but America, the West, probably most of the world is not what the good guy envisioned.

I dont think Jesus would be a guy lighting a cigar with a ten dollar bill somehow.
