I was in Louisinana as recently as a few months ago if it matters....?stsburns said:Have you ever been to Louisinana or even to New Orleans, Louisiana? Just wanna ask?
I have lived their for the first 5 years of my life, in a little city called "Oakdale". Also I have an Aunt that lived in New Orleans, and she was smart enough to leave an entire day before they issued the "Manditory leave" for her city. Luckily this week she was fortunate enough to get to her house in New Orleans after Katrina. She had to be escorted by police, and the police gave her a whole "30 mins" to get what she wanted from her house. Also her house wasn't flooded if you are wondering.scottyz said:I was in Louisinana as recently as a few months ago if it matters....?
I would also like to state, they are "Newsgroups NOT Blogs!"The Growing influence of Liberal Blogs

Actually it has far more depth to it but that has nothing to do with my question. He is president of Jefferson Parrish, why didn't he have those people evacuated out of danger. Where was the plan to do so and why was it not impliment. Since when was Bush suppose to go down there and do it for him?
It is noted you skirted the question. It's like your entire arguement is: So what if the state and locals have the responsiblity to plan for and impliment that plan and they didn't, it's STILL Bush's fault that he didn't do what he is not authorizied to do in the first place.
SouthernDemocrat said:I am not argueing that at the local level more should have been done. In fact, I think that a lot of local officials should lose their jobs, but for every screw up at the local level, there was a screw up at the federal level too.
We have spent 50 billion a year on Homeland Security in the last 4 years, and when we put this investment to the test, we had worst federal response to any major disaster in history.
Stinger said:I don't think you have any basis for that statement AT ALL. Had the Fed's been as incompetent as the locals NO ONE would have been rescued and all the people in the Astrodome would have been sitting there with no food no water and no future.
You seem blinded to the fact the one HECK of a job has been done down there. I am sorry that so many didn't get out when they were told too. I have evacuated twice in the last year myself. I am sorry that the locals didn't get their plan in action and did not prepare the Superdome and the convention center to recieve those who eventually went there, but let's not lose sight of the tremendous job that was done one the FED's got there and IN SPITE of the governor took over.
I don't know where you get that idea except from self serving idiots like Pelosie and Dean. Can you even comprehend the magnitude of what has been accomplished. Yes it's too bad the locals screwed it up from the beginning, yes it's too bad many refused to leave when the could have and should have and yes it's too bad the city was rampant with lawlessness and that black society there was so out of control to start with this disaster simply made way for the anarchy they ingaged in but what has been done has never been done in history. Hundreds have put thier lives on the line to save thousands and you have nothing but critisism.
SouthernDemocrat said:Boy you must think very little of America, because the country I love with the right leadership does not leave people without food or water in filth for nearly 5 days before they get off their ass and do something.
I know that if a better man were running this nation, we would not have been the disgrace of the world.
I am a yellow dog Democrat, but if Ronald Reagan were president when this disaster happened, those people would not have been there waiting for assistance for damn near 5 days.
