I decided to post this in the history section because this post deals with the history of Hollywood.

I came across a very, very interesting and compelling article written by the famous Hollywood actress of the 30's and 40's, Jane Russell:

She spoke at the Conservative Political Action Conference back in 2003.

She announced that she is a, "mean-spirited, narrow-minded, right-wing Christian bigot" in an attempt to make satire of how the liberals in modern Hollywood view conservatives. Jane claimed she is a Christian conservative and claimed that she is against taking out the ten commandments and religion out of schools.

One of the most interesting things she said was,

"I have always been a Republican, and when I was in Hollywood long ago, most of the people there were Republican. The studio heads were all Republican, my boss, [billionaire producer] Howard Hughes, was a raving Republican, and we had a motion picture code in those days so they couldn't do all this naughty stuff."

When asked what Jane thought of Susan Sarandon and Sean Penn, Jane replied, "I think they're not well."

I think that this wave of liberalism in modern Hollywood is truly sad. I think classical actresses like Jane Russell had far more beauty, morals, and class than many modern day actresses in Hollywood.

Hollywood used to be a place of glamour and sophistication. Nowdays, however, a lot of that sophistication is gone. Hollywood stars rarely dress up anymore in their private lives, except during Oscar night. Gone are the lavish, luxurious, and elegant dresses of the 20's and 30's. Gone are the gorgeous women like that of Viven Leigh and Ava Gardner. They've been replaced by women wearing tatoos, spiked hair, body piercings, and bad attitudes.

Gone are the fashion icons who wear hand tailored suits and hats whereever they go like Frank Sinatra, Cary Grant, Humphrey Bogart, or Howard Hughes. They've been replaced by baggy blue jeans or men wearing makeup, dresses, and other bizzare things.

Granted, some actors and actresses still look classy but I think most of them nowadays come from Europe and other places besides America.

I think that if Howard Hughes were still alive and still had an influence in Hollywood, things might just be different.
