Jan. 6 Committee Subpoenas Six Lawyers Allegedly Tied To Trump’s Push To Overturn Election

Phillip Kline, Kenneth Chesebro, Kurt Olsen, Cleta Mitchell, Christina Bobb and Katherine Friess are to submit documents to the Committee and show up for testimony later in March. We'll see.

Committee Chair Thompson wrote in one of his letters that was sent out that they had materials on file concerning calls to DJT on 1/6/21. Keep digging, Committee!

All six attorneys were told to submit documents to the select committee and appear for testimony later this month (Forbes has reached out to the six individuals or their lawyers for comment).
OK. Perhaps soon they will circle back to the topic they are supposed to be investigating.

Then why aren't they investigating ALL of the "criminal acts"? The answer is that they only care about what they can find out about Trump.
Cutting off the head of the snake would seem to make perfect sense to me. He is, after all, at the very nexus of the Big Lie that prompted the events of 1/6. It would be a dereliction of duty to not find out everything they could about Trump.

Face it. They are only interested in what they can use to create a political narrative. Their actions are the very epitome of government corruption.

Trump has said it best:

That very first sentence from Trump makes his whole statement mute. There was no election fraud. Trump knew it. He was told by multiple allies that there was no legal way to overturn the election, including by Barr.

With that being said, the new information we now have proves Trumps intent. Barr is on tape with Lester Holt telling his story. He told Trump in no uncertain terms that he lost the election and no fraud existed. Yet Trump continued to attempt to overturn Biden's victory.

Three very likely crimes:
1. Conspiracy to Interfere With an Official Proceeding of Congress. (A crime that has already been charged and convicted by the DOJ.)
2. Conspiracy to Defraud the U.S. Government
3. Mail Fraud. Pushing a huge lie to his supporters and illegally taking donations based on that Big Lie. (They have a video of Donnie Juniors girlfriend bragging about how much money they took in, in support of Jan. 6th. And Trump kept it all for himself. Fraud.

If you look at the whole coup attempt from a wide angle, all these come into clear view. And some more, I am sure.

All your spin attempting to protect Trump isn't going to work this time. He is in far too deep to weasel and lie his way out of this one.

Typical.

You ignore the evidence he presents and just say "Nuh-uh!!!"

The dog and pony show isn't interested in "truth and justice".

Too bad for you.
Not feeling the "too bad" part.

I read your words that they aren't interested in "truth or justice". Do you have actual proof (not the bs fantasies that spews out of DJT's head) proving that the 1/6 Committee isn't pursuing truth and justice for all things related to the 1/6 assault on our Capitol, 1/6/21?

OK. Perhaps soon they will circle back to the topic they are supposed to be investigating.
I believe that they are focused on the very topic for which they were created to investigate.

For instance, concerning the Committee's letter to Mr Kurt Olsen:

The Select Committee’s investigation has revealed credible evidence that you publicly promoted claims that the 2020 presidential election was fraudulent and participated in attempts to disrupt or delay the certification of the results. For example, just days before the January 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol, you contacted various high-level officials at the Department of Justice at the former President’s “direct[ion]” to discuss filing a last-minute challenge to the election based on a similar case that the Supreme Court had already rejected.1 In addition, you reportedly prepared a draft executive order for former President Trump that would have directed the U.S. Department of Justice “to take voter action,” 2 and, according to materials on file with the Select Committee, you had multiple telephone calls with former President Trump on January 6, 2021.

Donald hasn't presented any evidence viable enough to be admissable in a court of law.... If donald had it, he'd use it. So all the MAGA whining and stamping of feet is just a lesson in futility.

They were supposed to investigate the riot / 'insurrection' at the capitol, not election challenges.

What a moronic statement. The "election challenges", better known as the big lie, is what caused the insurrection.

They will claim "Solicitor-Client Privilege" and hope that no one points out that the gaping exception to that is if the lawyer and the client are jointly engaged in the commission of a criminal act.

lol. Thank you for labeling your statement. Trying to frame efforts to challenge an election as the cause of a riot is silly. Especially given that there were two 'big lies' about the election, from opposite sides of the isle, and both were ridiculous.

The people who treated concerns about election issues with disregard - and ridicule - were just as much responsible for the riot as those who egged the protesters on.

Donald's challenges were addressed and deemed false. It was his actions after being notified by his own officials that the election wasn't rigged that caused his minions to attack the capital. Donald had been informed repeatedly that he lost the election and that his claims of fraud were unfounded, only to reject them and continue to mislead the American public. The Jan. 6th committee has found he then pushed top advisers to continue strategizing ways to overturn the election results. Donald's dirty. His actions caused the Jan6th insurrection and have sown the seeds of mistrust in our system of elections amongst his weak minded and gullible followers. And it now looks like the shite is hitting the fan and it's spraying all over Donald.

That's actually a great example of what I was talking about. Not "the Donald's challenges". And not that the "election was stolen". There absolutely were legitimate concerns with the election that people refused to acknowledge or address - and instead met with dismissiveness. The other "big lie" - that there was "no fraud or misconduct" is just as wrong as "the election was stolen" - and just as responsible for current mistrust.

They have been addressed.... Over and over and over again. Even went so far as an forensic audit in Arizona where there was still not evidence of enough fraud to sway the election. Yet here you still are, in March of 2022, still trying to reinstate your cult leader. You must realize that if Donald had viable evidence of fraud that was admissable in a court of law he would of used it. But the MAGA cult is loyal to a fault. To stupid to accept they've been duped.

See #38

What's your point? This thread is about the findings of the Jan6th committee. What it's not about is your "concerns" that had no relevance to the outcome of the 2020 election.

My point there is in #38. People who say "there was no fraud/wronding/irregularities in the election" are just as wrong as those who say "the election was stolen". When we can't have legitimate political discourse we end up with emotions boiling over like on January 6.

As far as the topic at the start of the thread - the January 6 committee is supposed to be investigating the capitol incident/riot on January 6 - not election concerns or challenges.

Not enough fraud/ irregularities to of had an impact on the election results. So your response is pointless.

lol. And again - not that it would have changed the presidential election results. When pushed, those on the left give this response - and they miss the point. Fraud / irregularities should be addressed, period, so that it doesn't happen again. That's how you build confidence in the system.

Every election since the beginning of our republic has had some modicum of irregularities and fraud. It comes with the territory. The GOP insisting we place a bandaid where there was a no contusion is mindless and pointless.

Donald's lies only ruined the the confidence in elections for stupid and gullible miscreants who misguidedly believe every word out of his felonious mouth. I don't waste Band-Aids where there's no contusion.

The committee investigates wrong doing, which includes those who may have committed said wrong doing. Where do you get your moronic ideas from? Everytime you speak out comes another idiotic response.

The committee is to investigate the incident on January 6. It's even in great big bold on the front of their website.

Yes, irregularities occur in every election. They should always be investigated. This one was worse than most due to changes reacting to the pandemic. There were a lot of reasons to look at how the election was conducted, and make fixes / improvements. Many incidents where election transparency was violated. All dismissed by shouts of "there was no fraud".

Which includes any and all wrong doing associated with the Jan6th insurrection and those involved. It's funny how all y'all MAGA'ites have convinced yourselves that the committee doesn't have the authority to add Donald's wrongdoing to their investigation. All I can assume is y'all are merely parroting nonsense some moron on OAN or FOX said.
