First and foremost the Webb Telescope Is optimized in the infrared spectrum as distant light is redder.
The telescope is scheduled to launch in November of 2021.
The primary goals of Webb are to study galaxies, star and planet formation in the universe ..it will find the first galaxies that formed in the early universe.
Webb is 100 times more powerful than Hubble.
The Hubble Space Telescope orbits around the Earth at an altitude of 350 miles. Webb will not actually orbit the Earth ..instead it will sit at the Earth-Sun L2 Lagrange point, close to a million miles away!
The James Webb Space Telescope has a much bigger primary mirror than Hubble ..Webb's measures 21 plus feet in diameter while Hubble's mirror is 7.8 feet. Bigger mirrors collect more light from fainter and more distant objects in space. Also, bigger mirrors provide higher resolution, resulting in images with finer details.
