James Mattis steps down as secretary of defense, cites differing views with Trump

Where was the DC establishment ‘panic’ when OBAMA fired Gen. Mattis without even calling him?

https://thenationalsentinel.com/201...ma-fired-gen-mattis-without-even-calling-him/
As has been the case in the Trump era, the Washington “establishment” — politicians, the media, and the commentariat — are in a tizzy over recent personnel changes undertaken by the president, up to and including the two most recent changes. Earlier this month the White House announced that Chief of Staff John Kelly would be leaving early next year. Kelly’s announced departure has now been followed up this week with news that Defense Secretary James Mattis has either been fired or has resigned, though it seems more likely it was the latter, given the lengthy letter he wrote to POTUS.... Of all publications, the soon-to-close Weekly Standard, another #nevertrump organ, reported the firing:
President Barack Obama fired General James Mattis, the head of Central Command, without even calling the general to let him know he was being replaced.
“I am told that General Mattis was traveling and in a meeting when an aide passed him a note telling him that the Pentagon had announced his replacement as head of Central Command. It was news to him — he hadn’t received a phone call or a heads-up from anyone at the Pentagon or the White House,” Thomas E. Ricks reports.
'Official’ Washington calls whatever it doesn’t want or advocate a “crisis.” That’s why this president is so reviled in the nation’s capital; he is not one of them and he doesn’t want to be. And he will do things his way because that’s why we elected him.

During January 2013 President Barack Obama fired Gen.l James Mattis, the head of Central Command, without even calling the general to let him know he was being replaced as part of his purging of our military forces. Gen. Mattis was traveling and in a meeting when an aide passed him a note telling him that the Pentagon had announced his replacement as head of Central Command. It was news to him — he hadn’t received a phone call or a heads-up from anyone at the Pentagon or the White House,”
When Obama fired Mattis without even telling him, the media, the Democrats and the Washington establishment thought it was great.
When Mattis announces he will retire in two and a half months and there will be an orderly transition everyone in the media screams about how they are "panicked." Go figure.
During the Obama administration, high ranking military officers were removed from their positions at a rate that is absolutely unprecedented in recent history. Things have gotten so bad that a number of retired generals are publicly speaking out about the 'purge' of the U.S. military that they believe is taking place. Throughout world history, whatever comes next after a military purge is never good. President Trump has partially restored the military General command.

the following is the list of general officers fired by Barack Hussein Obama during his eight year tenure as president.

Funny isn't it, neither the biased lame stream media, the Washington establishment, or the Progressive Marxist Socialist/DSA Democrat Left murmured a word regarding this travesty of the destruction of our military. But General Mattis submitting his resignation as Secretary of Defense after two years serving both the president and this country is being questioned...

We had a draft long ago, but rich kids like Donald Trump always found a way to send someone else's son to die.

Yeah, and who sent them there? I'll give you a hint: It wasn't Trump. And where are we today? How many wealthy progressives, when they're not dragging Little Johnny or Suzy to a March for Our Lives march, try selling their kids on a stint in the Marine Corps before applying to Stanford or Princeton?

There has never been a Secretary of Defense resign in protest.

What does that tell you?

Hmm..., What about the three Secretary's of Defense that resigned or were basically fired under Obama? Remember the following: Robert Gates, Leon Panetta, Chuck Hagel and Ashton Carter.

Show me their letters of resignation that were as damning as Mattis's letter.

Gates and Panetta wrote pungent memoirs.

Nothing like Mattis.

This is a major embarrassment for Individual 1.

You really can't spin this any other way than actual reality.

If Trump truly did this decision to pull out of Syria during a phone call with Erdogan, then shame on him. Doing this without even discussing it with his pentagon and his military advisors/chiefs of staff and the secretary of defense is a terrible thing, almost akin to betraying the US troops and the US people because if ISIS returns and new soldiers will have to be sent back into that hell hole, then every death of US soldiers will Trump's fault.

This would be like when the US troops were fighting into Germany near Berlin and Stalin saying, thanks USA for your work but we will deal with the rest and the US actually leaving without ending the Nazi's.

This is a historically bad decision by Trump.

Ninety nine percent of the population don't join the military. Not at all, not ever. Not active, not reserve, not national guard. Same as Trump when he was of eligible age.

Trying to single out but one segment only of the general public for not volunteering is lame. It says more about the poster than the group being singled out by him. What it says is that the guy is a self righteous political hack.

It's like guns. The Right Whinge is self convinced it needs to arm itself to protect themselves against unarmed liberals.

And even so the leaders keep pointing out that we have a serious shortage of qualified young people, and they keep on being forced to take people of lower quality than the mission demands.

That's bad, that is the picture of a society failing.

You should take The Rebellion seriously.

Maybe even you should join.

You really must have been disgusted by Obama’s Reign of Error then.*

The withdrawal has not begun yet.

My bet is he changes his mind.

*You weren’t. You likely egged the dope on, and then cheered (until the disgusting reality of his mistake(s) hit home) just as the remainder of the Leftists and their media had.

Some folk never were better.

No used to be about it.

Mattis comes from Rotc by the way. One impact of a hundred years of Rotc is that the officer corps has been better socialized, i.e., it's more liberal and flexible than many academy grads are. It's made the armed forces more like the society than the other way around. Rotc standards remain high. Three of the seven joint chiefs are Rotc and one got his start at OCS. It's never been better.

Your only answer is always, but Obama!

Remember When Three of Obama's Former Secretaries of Defense Blasted Him?

https://pjmedia.com/trending/rememb...as-former-secretaries-of-defense-blasted-him/
Did you enjoy all that time between the announcement of Secretary of Defense James Mattis’s resignation and the Democrats’ politicization of it? I believe it was about five seconds. The news is certainly disappointing. Thanks to the leadership of President Trump and Secretary Mattis, tremendous progress has been made in cleaning up the mess left behind by Barack Obama—most notably against ISIS. In fact, the success in “defeating” ISIS was cited as Trump’s reason for announcing the United States’ withdrawal from Syria. Given Obama’s fumble with Iraq—his premature departure creating a leadership vacuum that ultimately caused the rise of ISIS—I’m not yet convinced that leaving Syria is the best move.... Let’s be honest here: The departure of a secretary of defense over foreign policy and military strategy differences is hardly a new thing. Obama’s first secretary of defense, Robert Gates, resigned without incident in 2011, but would later criticize Obama’s role as commander in chief in his memoir published a few years later. It revealed a troubled relationship between Obama and the Pentagon:
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2...rmer-defense-secretary-criticize-obama-memoir
Gates – who was first appointed to his post by former President George W Bush – reveals, in a series of swipes that are surprisingly combative coming from such a senior former official, problems between the White House and the Pentagon that have made for troubling relations...
Trump is making his decisions based on advice from other generals who believe these moves are the right thing to do. Obama spent years politicizing the military at the cost of readiness, effectiveness, and victory. Mattis’s shoes will be tough to fill, but hopefully, Trump will nominate someone who will have as much success with him as Mattis did.

The Progressive Marxist left always forgets (how convenient!) what they said yesterday, or even 5 minutes ago. You are not supposed to remind them, they get very upset when you display their ignorance!
Obama's military "Strategies" were incoherent and weak. They started from no logical basis, dithered around aimlessly, had no end goal; just a lot of blather, smoke and mirrors. A perfect metaphor for the man.
why did Obama put our military into Syria in the first place, Oil, Nat gas, Assad is an ally of the USA, Assad's use of chemical weapons against his own citizens a good reason to mix it up with Syria? Nope, the reason why Obama were there at all was to help topple Assad. Why? Because he's a secular leader, and Obama/Hillary/Kerry all had their marching orders from the global cabal, bring down secular leaders, and especially those in the Middle East, for the time being. That 'order' would be widened to include ALL secular leaders, including the whole effing world, in preparations for the NWO.
Obama targeted Egypt and Libya in an attempt at getting the Muslim Brotherhood installed in place of Mubarek. He got them installed into Egypt's seat of power, but the people couldn't stand them and promptly revolted and tossed them out.
He did however assassinated Ghadaffy, taking his weapons and shipping them to Syria to supply his trained ISIS/ISIL terrorists.
Had Obama followed his marching orders, and stuck with the script he was given, George Soros would be quite proud of his Manchurian Candidate/sock puppet. He almost broke America.
Obama klingons continue to venerate him as their messiah that was to "Fundamentally Transform America" and the world. Instead he created more racial strife and nearly destroyed our economy and military. He certainly relit the flames of war in the Middle East.
Meanwhile the Progressive Marxist Socialist/DSA Democrat Left continues it's failed attempts in a coups d'état against our duly elected president. Strangely if any of the sixteen GOP candidates for the presidency had been chosen other than Trump, we would still be fighting the same battle.

The Right keeps fighting the last war.

Trump meanwhile carries the water of foreign tyrants and dictators into the USA.

This will end because it must be ended. Constitutionally of course.

Like it or not, we are in play and when we leave the vacuum is filled with our foes and the corpses and remnants of those who once believed us. Your response is typical of a Trump supporter. Trump is indeed destroying the Western Alliance and whatever is left of our leadership in the world.

I guess it is time for reporters to be reporting the news under their desk.

IT IS THE END OF THE WORLD PEOPLE!

Well, it may be the end of our leadership role in the world. I cannot see how any other nation trusts us ever again.

Didn't the U.S start two wars on false pretenses and bomb a country in Asia?
