Republicans are claiming that Smith interfered with the 2024 election. He was appointed by the AG. He didn't appoint himself. These people are off their rockers. No way does this go anywhere. It's nothing more than a vindictive prosecution with absolutely no chance of success.

The hatch act is all they've got. A lot of noise, no action.

Good thing for Jack he's an expert on that sort of thing.

Too bad, that Biden didn’t add Smith to the preemptive pardon list. They should’ve seen this revenge persecution coming.

Interfered with an election that they won.

I think Smith affirmative didn't want it, like Garland.

He is. Can't wait to hear what he knows.

This is a mistake by Cotton. A stupid mistake.
I think the hearings should be public. I think this is a far more interesting topic than even the Epstein thing. I would love to know what Jack Smith had uncovered in his investigations.

Nothing at all suspicious about Cotton instigating a retaliatory persecution of Smith ahead of his bid for reelection next year.

Here is why this will go nowhere:
So, when this investigation is done, the best they can hope for is another investigation by DOJ.

I doubt it will even go that far. This is just another distraction from Epstein.

It's a lie and it will be tossed.

This is nothing but Trump attacking those who offended him.

Important to know this is not a criminal investigation. It is an ethics investigations. The penalty if it is found that he did violate the Hatch act is a reprimand or he gets fired........but he is is no longer a federal employee, so there's that! Of course Trumpers won't be told that tiny morsel. They will think this is some sort of criminal investigation. It's not. It's a friggin' joke , yet another shiny object.

AI Overview from Google

Violating the Hatch Act, which restricts political activities of federal employees, can result in disciplinary actions including removal from federal service, suspension, and fines. The Office of Special Counsel (OSC) can pursue disciplinary action with the Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB) for violations, including those by White House officials.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:
  • Removal from federal service:
This is the most severe penalty and can be pursued by the OSC through the MSPB.

  • Suspension:
Federal employees can face suspension from their jobs for violating the Hatch Act.

  • Fines:
The OSC can recommend fines for violations.

  • Other disciplinary actions:
Depending on the severity of the violation and the employee's position, other disciplinary actions may be taken, including reprimands or other penalties.

  • Presidential defiance:
In the past, there were concerns that White House staff violations of the Hatch Act were not adequately addressed because the OSC would report violations directly to the president, who could then choose not to pursue disciplinary action. However, the OSC now states it will pursue disciplinary action through the MSPB for White House officials as well.

I started a thread on this days ago. I really don't care if Smith is held responsible for his lawfare. I'm just happy that now HE will be the one who has to lawyer up.

Karma is a bitch.

I hope you won't be too disappointed if the case against him is tossed out.

The man did his job.

Lawfare is a bullshit term created by the orange child rapist. Using it is offensive.

The case will be booted and the malicious prosecution case will cost taxpayers money.

What part of "I really don't care if Smith is held responsible for his lawfare." do you not understand?

The man did his job.
shrug...

He should have had the integrity to not take part in his lawfare attack against Trump.

Sorry if that term chaps your ass, but lawfare is a reality...whether you like it or not.

The case will be booted and the malicious prosecution case will cost taxpayers money.
Perhaps, but it'll also cost Smith...and I'm happy about that.

This is NOT a criminal or even civil investigation. Please see post #17. It is an ethics investigation which holds ZERO water now that Smith is no longer a public employee.
