When you show a video of a cop shooting an unarmed black man, that just enflames the black community.

Then some blacks riot, steal big screen TVs, and then the racists point at this and say, "see, we told you they were that way!"

The printed word is less volatile. You read what happened and you can make a logical decision. People aren't going to riot over the printed word.

Videos also get in the way of the cops getting a fair trial.

Thats the only way a cop could be held accountable.

That is done because police shootings of white people doesn't generate the news interest, clicks. shares, links that a shooting of a black person does. It also doesn't help push the dogmatic ideology of "Anti-Racism". A dogma whose tenants requires no evidence, only faith that it is happening despite the hard fact against it.
Its actually because white people just dont care. Nothing dogmatic about it. White people arent getting out to protest because the majority likes the boot.

What the sam hell is wrong with accountability with bootlickers? Dont worry, well get accountability with or without ya.

Let's just sweep all the world's problems under the rug just in case it upsets someone.
That'll work wonders.
Well put!

Are you serious - or ironic?

Looks like I upset the foreigners.

Do you imply that all US-citizens are happy when black persons can get shot more easily?
And that foreigners should not write anything on a US forum?

Unbelievable!!! 😤 ........................ ( your wishes can't sanitize the truth away)!!!

That sounds about as vile and insidious as TV showing all white people for all those decades, because white people wanted to dis-acknowledge that black people exist.

We have every right to see/hear/read whatever happens. They should give a warning for parents to send children out of the room to show such as beheadings. But if Rachel Maddow can watch it, she shouldn't deny me watching it, for any reason, like she did. What a bogus excuse she had. She's not my mother. Be real.
She's not "denying you watching it." She's just not showing it. You can find it elsewhere.

Welcome to cameraland. These days, if you don't want to be on video, it's best to stay home and put tape over your laptop camera. The Police caught by 4 different cameras being violent, should show that they had good reason to get violent. Police work can often go that way. When it shows them as the instigators, it's not a good look.

Don't make those videos and they won't get shown.

Every police officer should be wearing a body cam and should be disciplined if there is no video evidence to prove what transpired in the incident.

Disagree BIG TIME!. Had the video of Chauvin not been shown to the public, that would be a major disservice to all Americans, especially the members of the community in which Chauvin murdered Mr. Floyd. Kinda like not telling the American Populace that Trump willfully lied about the severity of COVID was a disservice to the American Populace which resulted in 100's of 1000s of Americans dying.

It goes both ways.

There are cases where police claim someone lunged or attacked them as a justification for extreme or lethal force, when the video shows nothing of the like. There are yet other cases, where cops are accused of brutality by BLM or some other group, and the video shows justifiable force.

They can acquit the cop or convict the cop. Just like video can for the common citizen.

Agreed, MP. It doesn't matter who the perp is. If a LEO body cam, or a video recorded by a private citizen helps juris prudence be dispensed correctly, that is a good thing. Nothing wrong with private citizens 'policing the police.' It can either help exonerate a peace office, or help get a bad one from hiding behind a badge to do ill intent on innocent private citizens, and abusing power.

I had to think about this before liking it.

I'm implying that upsetting a bunch of people to the point where they riot is counterproductive. And the way media keeps showing these videos over and over again, is just fanning the flames.

The printed or spoken word is simply someone else’s interpretation of ‘the important parts’ of what the video evidence showed. For example, the recent Columbus shooting by an LEO was (too often) described without mention of the (obviously?) impending stabbing of an unarmed bystander. The video evidence also showed Adam Toledo to have been holding a handgun less than one second before he turned to face the LEO and was (fatally) shot.

It isn't what is shown and told, but in ratio to what isn't. Apparently, no cop has ever shot or beat a white man, and black police officers only hand out teddy bears and flowers. When I was in Chicago, the cops most likely to beat someone into the ground tended to be the black cops - but that many years ago.

If these videos werent shown there likely would not have been justice. The rioting happens because people are sick of the excuses we make about police brutality.

You are saying in effect: "Shoot the messenger!"
Meaning: The person who brings the info about a crime is worse than the criminal who commited the crime!
I call that idea perverse and revolting.

In my opinion, what really needs done is rooting out any police officer that doesn't measure up. Body cams are needed. Let the truth be revealed. 🤷‍♂️

You are perfectly right!
I could not believe at first that swing voter was really serious with his perverse suggestion.
