'It Felt Like Deception': An Elite NYC Hospital Charges Huge COVID Test Fees
State-run testing sites in New York do not charge patients or collect health insurance information for the COVID nasal swab tests. A study published last year found that a swab test at a hospital can run from $20 to $850. Some independent laboratories have charged more, billing $2,315.
The Lenox Hill Greenwich Village center bills $671 for its coronavirus test, six times what major labs such as LabCorp and Quest charge. The rest of the price discrepancy comes from the emergency room fees.
Sarah Nathan was not looking for emergency-level care when she was tested at Lenox Hill Greenwich Village. She just needed a test to return to her job as a nursery schoolteacher.
The bill for her visit came to $3,194, which her insurance negotiated down to $2,084. She recalls asking a front desk representative whether she would be billed for an emergency room visit. She said she was told she would not be.
Nathan worries about the impact these high fees could have on her premiums.

The best scenario for America is get these overly self delusional priviledged minded people out of determining medical billing cost,
Bring in "Diversity" and don't get it from any of the Ivy league schools. Get people who go to colleges that know what the average Americans life truely is and the reality economics of the average American.
It's time America wake up, and stop submitting to these people who grow up wealthy with these promised jobs, with these highly overly compensated position, which they think they are entitled to because they came from wealth.
Get people from the many colleges across the nation who came from everyday working families, who know how much it takes to earn a dollar, and how honest that work must be. When we realize how to stop falling into to the "pay the wealthy more just because they came from wealth"... Then we can get fair pricing equity and stop all the stupid rip off fee and exaggerated cost that is being thrust upon society.
Then; the exaggerated and excessive fees and cost will drop dramatically.
ACA could have put a stop to this madness of excessive fees and exaggerated charges a decade ago, if people had paid attention and actually read and understood the plan and design.
It's time for people to stop being led by "blind and willful ignorance" and being fleeced in the process.
At some point people will be forced to wake up and realize Republicanism is a Detriment To The General Society of Working People and This Nation, and the Equity of Peoples Lives, Community and Services.
