so she said
Which may or may not have anything to do with that particular cancer and may or may not have even happened to any of his pot. I notice you mention nothing else, such as his job, his geographical environment, how long he sat in stalled/idling traffic, all those other things that might have had an effect. Instead you just focus on the one thing that many reports have proven is patently false. Pot does not cause lung cancer.
My father got lung cancer and he never smoked...anything.
No offense, but your example also falls under that catagory. Hell, even my brother in law's story falls under that line technically.
Point being that cancer, like many things, isn't a "sure" thing and there are many many factors involved, not just one. Does one run the risk if they smoke anything? Yes. But it isn't a sure thing, nor should it be the business of the government to get involved in making something like this illegal. Just like New York has shown, when you get any government entity deciding "what is bad for you, hence illegal" you run the risk of draconian laws.
As much as I would hate the government to do it, if they government made alcohol, tobacco, caffeine, etc illegal (while draconian) that would make the only sense in making pot illegal. Since none of those things I listed except pot are illegal, it doesn't make sense to make pot illegal.
it does until testing procedures are put in place in the work place and on the highways to make sure the rest of us are safe.
None of us are "safe" on the highway unless you are for taking away passengers, the radio, no food/drink in the car etc. Hell there was a fatal accident last week that was determined to be due to the driver falling asleep. Are you for mandatory awareness testings every 100miles?
Like I said, it doesn't make sense to make pot illegal when you have so many other bad things that are legal.
we have testing procedures and guidelines for all those other things you mentioned that are legal. There is not enough structure to make pot legal.
There isn't a structure to test for sleeping aids either, yet they are legal. Just because there isn't a testing structure in place doesn't mean it should be illegal.
until the structure is similar to alcohol, yes it should be
Ah so is there a test structure for passengers in the car, the radio, talking on the phone using blue tooth, sleep deprevation, food/drink and other distractions as well? If not, then you are no more safe making pot illegal.
moving the goal post again NE? this is pot versus alcohol, maybe you should start a thread on that other stuff since we do not ingest our phones or other passengers in the car.
Not moving the goal post, just poking at your plans to make the highway "safe". Sorry, but personal freedoms are greater than your fear of pot. Especially when you add in the other LEGAL distractions, your point doesn't hold any water.
White House docs say pot causes brain damage and lower IQ in teens, alcohol does not
President Obama’s latest claims about marijuana are contradicted by research and official positions of the Office of National Drug Control Policy, which is part of the White House. And Mr. Obama’s words have anti-drug leaders worried about negative repercussions among youth.
Mr. Obama claimed to The New Yorker magazine that marijuana is no worse than cigarettes or alcohol and he promoted state efforts by Colorado and Washington to legalize marijuana, which remains illegal under federal law.
The National Drug Control Policy’s official stance, posted on the whitehouse.gov website, says the opposite of Mr. Obama on all counts.
For example, as documented in agency reports, marijuana smoke has significantly more carcinogens than tobacco smoke.
And as reported by the government’s National Institute on Drug Abuse, adolescent use of marijuana does something that alcohol does not; it causes permanent brain damage, including lowering of I.Q.
Taxpayers have spent billions of dollars warning about drugs, often about marijuana, but these efforts were dramatically undercut by the president’s comments.
Mr. Obama might as well have rolled that money into a joint and smoked it on national television.
He told the interviewer, David Remnick, that his earlier years of prodigious puffery were “a bad habit and a vice.” Yet he doesn’t warn others not to follow in his footsteps.

he and most supporters think legalized pot is less harmful than alcohol, when it fact it is probably much worse. My uncle died at 47 from lung cancer and pot was all he smoked.
it holds plenty when comparing apples to apples and not using deflection, your personal freedoms only apply when not infringing on others

Since when was Obama wanting TEENS to
smoke? If marijuanna was decriminalized it would be for ADULTS not teens.
It wasn't like Obama was saying it was healthy to smoke pot.
LOL !!
Wow ! Legalizing marijuana would have no effect on " teens" and young people ?
When you allow a wash of harmful chemicals to enter into a community AND remove a needed stigma by lying about Marijuans effects, you dont think kids are going to got their hands on it in much higher numbers than before ?
I don't see the higher numbers. Pot has
always been easily obtainable. This, for teens, is the same as alcohol.
The comparison argument doesn't fly with me.
Pot and alcohol are different as are their effects both short time and long term.
When it comes down to it, by legalizing pot your allowing it to wash into the Communities that MY kids have to grow up in.
And its effects ARE self destructive.
Why does a stoners self destructive habit have to infringe upon my wanting to raise my family in a Community not awash with idiot stoners ?
Why does his "rights" supercede mine ?
Are you trying to tell me that you now live
in a community that is free of "stoners"?
