Al-Wawi was detained on Feb. 9 and sentenced in an Israeli military court on Feb. 18 for attempted voluntary manslaughter and the illegal possession of a knife, after she allegedly went to the illegal Karmei Tzur settlement with the intention of stabbing settlers.

Her detention was caught on tape and broadcast by Israeli Channel 1, where the girl is recorded admitting her intention to carry out a stabbing attack.

“The detention of children is a crime against humanity,” the governor said, adding that “the Israeli occupation violates children’s’ dignity and their right to live.”

So, a palestinian girl goes out and tries to stab a Jew but it is Israel who is to blame for detaining her and has committed a crime against humanity?

I particularly enjoyed the part where the author of the article uses the word "allegedly". She confessed and was convicted, but this is all just "alleged"...

Sick...

I noticed this too. Her detention is in itself a "crime against humanity," apparently. So if she's planned on stabbing Jews which, as it has been demonstrated, is actually an ongoing thing, what is Israeli law enforcement supposed to do? Just wait for her to stab someone?

For those who would happily agree, we have an analogous issue in the United States whereby police are legally prohibited from acting against an obviously malicious stalker until he has already harmed the object of his obsession. And we are all quite justifiably outraged when an overt threat such as that is ignored by the police. It's even worse when their hands are tied by the very lawmakers we elected, which makes it that much more worse.

I know she's 12 and all but she did attempt murder. And for that she should be taken to a juvenille center. In regular israel, no one under 14 gets sent to regular jail but in the west bank which is under military rule, youths as young as 12 are sent to regular jail.
