When I think of terrorism I think of other countries and people taking action against the U.S. The U.S. has declared war against anyone who attempts to committ any act of terrorism against them (us).

What about U.S. citizens making threatening claims against another country or leader, would this be the same thing?

My question is posted because of the idiotic statement that Pat Robertson made recently about assassinating Venezuela's President. Read more at http://www.courant.com/news/opinion...,0,6365524.story?coll=hc-headlines-editorials

Wouldn't this be worthy of punishment according to the Bush administrations policy on the war on terrorism?

Just a thought.

I am not a huge Roberton fan but I often wonder if someone had assasinated Hitler in around 1930 what might have been the results....Just a thought........

Terrorism is defined in the U.S. by the Code of Federal Regulations as: "..the unlawful use of force and violence against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives." (28 C.F.R. Section 0.85)

So terrorism can also be "domestic", when the group of people or individual is
based and operates entirely within the United States or its territories without foreign direction. (Timothy McVeigh, for example).

I guess that would depend on the other country's definition of terrorism, but I wouldn't include Robertson's statement in that definition.

Seriously, I'm going to start counting whever someone mentions Hitler, the Nazis, or the Holocaust in an argument - both conservatives and liberals. I would do the same for Stalin, but he's not brought into irrelevent discussions half as often.
