Islamic exhortations to violence defended [title changed]

What ignorance. Did you even graduate high school?

Are you really so incredibly unintelligent as you appear or have you just decided to dig your little heels in the ground because you are just making it up on the fly and are too stubborn to admit you haven't the foggiest idea what you are talking about?

Ah nothing but insults, looks like you lost the debate, thank you very Much for playing high school games slick.

Answer the question, do you believe polls of 1000 people are FACT of the majority in all cases? I can't WAIT to hear your reply on this one.

1000 people is a method for research for the majority of millions of Muslims and should be taken as fact? Puuuhlease. I urge you to take a class in statistics and polling, you need it.

If you cannot understand that 1000 people is not the majority, then you need help. Again, when you can come back and show the majoirty think the way you claim, you may have something, until then, have fun playing poll man and don't waste our time.

Take a class on research methods. The most appropriate for political science is quantitative research methods. After a couple months (or at least what feels like it) of examining the math behind sampling and doing the proofs of it, you will come to accept that a sample of 1000 individuals can give you an accurate representation of the population of the whole.

Moderator's Warning:

NOT the basement people. Cool it.

Well then every poll done about Bush is 100% correct right? All the polls done are 100% correct with no deviation right? Reality check on aisle 4 please.

Absolutely not. I never said all polls are accurate and I would appreciate it if you read my posts more carefully before attributing words to me I have never said. There are many, many errors that can occur while taking a sample which will skew the results. I said a sample of 1000 can be an accurate representation of a population. If it's a reputable polling place or center of research, I will normally trust their methodology. Otherwise, an examination of their methods will let you know how accurate the results are. Rather tedious though.

I have looked it up, I have also looked up and experienced how polls can be manipulated with small sample numbers, maybe you should try looking that up genius. Or do you believe then all the polls done about President Bush?

As for BS, your entire rant about Muslims is just that, BS. When you Cherry Pick quotes out of the Koran, you lose the meaning. The same as I can Cherry pick quotes out of the bible. Oh wait, there I said it again, bible, gotta make sure you don't blow a fuse and throw a tantrum. They're similar when you Cherry pick.

So I take that as a flat out no?
But this would be your chance to prove me wrong.
Are you going to pass this up?

PS. I know the Old Testament is violent.
and by the way I don’t believe in ANY religion....

I dunno. I'm drawn to Buddhism even though I don't want to be. Seems nice.

Been there and done that in PSY.

Yeah, the knowledge that I'd have to take 3 more courses, at the 5000 level no less, to get my masters in poly sci really put me off. Some of the most boring stuff I've ever dealt with.

I would like to learn more about them.

I have seen claims that the US has a Buddhist following 4 to 5 million people.

One of the things that resonated the most with me is that attachment to sensations leads to a lot of our problems. I'm sure I'm butchering that, and over-simplifying it, but that's what I got out of it. I don't like it, cause it's true.

Yeah but I bet your PSY professor wasn’t a Neo-Freudian like mine was.

Political science? Yep did that too. But can you see me in a Humanities class?...

Wow. I didn't know they still existed. I took a macroeconomics class taught by a socialist. Screwed me up for years until I got a real education in economics by a libertarian.

Well that would explain some things...about me that is.............

Got nothing to do with your age. Most of Freud's theories haven't been taken seriously for decades.

I know, got to mess with ya..
But he whole heartily believed in his work. Dreams, penis envy to the anal stages.
But my personal favorite is using cocaine and vibrators to heal women of their psychological problems.

Penis envy = biggest crock of shite I've ever heard. I'm all about drugs and masturbation though.

As one who has written numerous research papers and is currently tutoring in that topic, I will agree with Kelzie's assessment. Sure numbers are important (and 1000 is sufficient for the research being explored, here), but research methodology is probably more important. Factors like confounding variables, researcher's agenda, type of survey and questions being asked, are all relevant when assessing research validity. I post a lot of sources. Not only is it important that my source validates my position, but also, that it's research methods are not so flawed as to be easily refuted on that stand, alone.

Hmmm...I was going to say/start something, but that's for another, possible, future thread. :2wave:
