Seriously,

Those with power use it, those without power (read: you and I) sit around and complain about it, write a congressman and so on.

Does it really matter until Fox News/MSNBC pick it up ?

I think it matters on election day whether or not voters have debated the issues and are relatively informed.

Yes it is worth it. Americans have to have control of their leaders, their actions, and policies. If we don't execise this privilege, we will lose it, and end up with greatly altered America and Constitution.

NEW PREAMBLE TO THE PROPOSED GOP NEO CONSERVATIVE CONSTITUTION

We the Corporate Masters of the United States, In order to form more profitable Corporations, establish privilege, insure domestic and economic dominance, misuse and destroy the environment, provide for military aggression, discourage and suppress the general welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to Our Corporations and the Leaders of the corporations, and the rich, Eliminate liberty for the poor confused Americans who voted for the NeoConservatives, eliminate medical care for our workers, the poor, sick and the elderly, create division, racism, bigotry and poverty, do ordain and establish this New Constitution for the United States of America.

The was stolen at great risk in March 2006. Of Course there is lots of work left to do. The Neo Cons want to change the voting age from 18 to 88, and add a poll tax for anyone, who opposes the Government.

Is worrying about politics worth what, exactly?

Debating on here is very worth while. You educate people who might of not know the whole story on a topic and they in turn are able to educate their friends and their friends friends.

It's a spider web effect, wheither that produces a result in your favor cannot be know untill election days.

The trouble, the stress, the drama, the energy.

Do you really educate people though ? A lot of people stick to their beliefs despite whatever facts you offer up in "debate".

ps. I think about it the same way you do but really, most people just stick to their guns even if their guns are broken.

If enough of us wrote our elected officials it makes a difference. Its sitting around and not contacting our elected officials where all the negative **** happens and its voting for who you think will win instead who you want to win why bad **** happens.

Sometimes the media and political commentators are a good source of information.BUt they can also at the same time bury the issues.

Some people are so narrow minded that nothing will change but I think (or hope) that the majority of people are on here to discuss and obtain knowledge and not to merely stress their single opinion as gospel.

We may just be optimistics by thinking most people can come to different conclusions, or strength their current conclusion by the more knowledge they obtain from the many disccusions that take place here.

It's definitely worth it. When I started on debatepolitics.com last year I was a conservative Catholic. Now I'm a liberal agnostic. It really helped me to see the arguments of conservatives being shut down by the liberal members of Debate Politics. So now I'm liberal and when election time comes the Democrats will have one vote they didn't have last year, and the Republicans will have one less.

As for affecting the politicians currently in power, I have no idea if this stuff helps, but it can't hurt.

Well now you sound like John Kerry.......lol, yeah, I have changed some positions, but not that damn much, but to each his own.;)

It's not worth worrying about, only if it's not worth the results! This is all you need to know, if you follow your heart, and your head, you will make the right choices for you, damn the others, what's right for you!

I can't answer your poll because in so doing I would have to concede that I don't care about anything until a TV tells me to.

That's not the case.

And politics are always worth worrying about. There's nothing more worth worrying about in all the world, save the person you love the most.

In my opinion anyway.
