Is Trump trying to weaken the country and for what purpose?

Trump has said that he is going to purge generals and admirals from the Defense department. That is an act that would certainly weaken our military as was shown when Stalin did it before WWII and it took him millions of dead soldiers before he could find new capable leaders. Then there are the unquailed and totally political choices for some of our most important positions including defense, homeland security and even now Gaetz for AG, all which will weaken our country both within and internationally. These moves will make not only Trump happy, but Putin, Xi Jinping and Kim Jong as well as they will see a country who has weakened themselves by their choice of president and his choices of his government. So why is Trump doing this is the question. Is it just for his political needs or does it have more to do with his desire to be one with the strongest dictators of the world? Trump talked about Biden being weak, but this will make us far weaker in the eyes of the world.
 
Don't forget Gabbard a Russian sympathizer and a supporter of Assad in Syria now in charge of Intelligence! Of course if she would betray national security Gaetz will give her a pass. What could possibly go wrong!

The federal government, across the board, has become bloated and corrupt. The federal government tends to serve itself FAR more than it serves the people. Just read some of those COVID bills. Their primary focus was on saving various departments in the government, not on saving the people!

Trump's nominees are signs of a complete paradigm shift in the way government operates. His nominees appear to be purpose driven at clearing out bloat and entrenched bureaucracy. That, IMHO, is something that is desperately needed. Unless you prune the dead and diseased wood from the plants in your yard all the plants die. The principle is no different when it comes to government.
 

I know what he's trying to do and I hope he succeeds, but there are risks to it. The military ranks are filled with political officers already, many far too interested in pushing woke liberal policies at the expense of military preparedness. Many people feel the ratio of generals and admirals to enlisted servicemen is too high.

How is he going to figure out who the "good" ones vs the "bad" ones. His Fox news host made Secretary of Defense going to figure that out for him? What is the criteria for good vs bad.....loyalty to Trump over the Constitution?
 
I think it's the "woke" ones he's getting gone. As far as unqualified, which ones are those in your opinion. Do you think democrats haven't don the same? Finally, remember that if you want change you have to institute change. Doing the same things and expecting change is the definition of crazy. Democrats need to look at their 2024 campaign.
 
I'd agree with that if he had picked people with the experience and competency to actually do that but they don't have any experience in identifying it and eliminating it.

But it very well may be the realized result by cycling out military leaders there now for a new handpicked set who will be more loyal to Trump over a sense of value for function of military leadership or even their oath to the Constitution. That does make the beneficiaries of these actions the likes of Putin, Jinping, Khamenei, etc.

Now we should not pretend the US was operating from a position of strength under Biden, but it is yet to be seen how effective the new lot will be under Trump.
 
In the case of the military, it is the 'woke', DEI, PC infection which needs to be pruned, having been politicized and instilled since the Obama administration, who, BTW, also dismissed numbers of high ranking military to promote those who did align with Obama's ideology. So this is more a case of undoing harm already done, than doing harm.

I think Trump doesn't give a damn about 'woke'. Oh, he knows that you do and when he wanted you to vote for him he said he did but he doesn't need you anymore.
What he needs is loyalty.
The Repubs have the easy route all laid out- both Houses, the White House, the SCOTUS, see if they actually govern this time.

All you have to do is look at which people and organizations are declaring that these people lack 'experience and competency':
The Dem's MSM propagandists and career bureaucrats who don't want their comfy nest disrupted.

Define "good". He is certainly going to try to remove any who will not swear fealty to him.

Short answer: Yes. Weakening the country creates chaos, and fascism thrives in chaos because it is perceived to restore order. The purpose is obvious. For profit. Government creates regulations, enforced with the power of law. Regulations are an impediment to profits. The Republican Party, on the whole, is no longer beholden to their oath of office to the Constitution - they are beholden to their oath to Grover Norquist, whose often stated aim is the shrink the federal government “just until it is small enough to drown in a bathtub”.

That’s been the objective of Trump since his first term, when he put people in cabinet position who were sworn to destroy their own departments, For example, Rick Perry who ran on a platform of shutting down the Department of Energy, Betsy DeVos in Educations, who had never even set foot in a public school in her life, Scott Pruitt, who had actually sued the EPA multiple times before Trump made him the head of it, etc., etc.

The fascist Republican’s intention to destroy the US Government has never really been a secret, and examples abound.

Who passed the Covid Bills? Was not any Department or Agency in the Federal Government. It was members of Congress.
It seems you are saying members of Congress are in it only for themselves.
Trump nominees for the most part are from members of Congress or from the business elites. As far as the paradigm shift, it will be interesting in 3 to 4 years how the American people like it. Let's see how well the new Administration does at balancing a budget and reducing the debt.

Decent whataboutism but you really need to get your deflections in much earlier on a thread. A skilled MAGA will deflect to Biden, Obama, Hillary and/or Hunter within the first 5 posts of the thread, yet here we are, some 20 posts in, almost on the 2nd page, and you're only just starting to rev up the deflections. This poor performance is inconsistent with the quality of MAGA that Donald is expecting in his second term.

I certainly agree that more experience would be desirable but in a situation like this there has to be a trade-off between experience, which generally comes from inside experience with these agencies, and the idea of picking someone that has no choice but to view things from the perspective of an outsider. What's going to be most important for Hegseth and Gaetz is to make sure they build a solid team around them. Gaetz, for example, would be wise to pull a guy like Matt Whitaker into the fold and if I was Hegseth I'd at least have a lunch with Bob Gates.
