"Are Republicans Racist?" Many critics point to specific policies, rhetoric, and historical events to argue that the Republican Party exhibits racist tendencies. Conversely, many Republicans, deny that the party is racist.
  • Historians and political scientists believe that the Republican "Southern strategy" after the Civil Rights era intentionally appealed to white Southern voters' racial grievances to gain political support.
  • In 2005, then-Republican National Committee Chairman Ken Mehlman formally apologized to the NAACP for the party's exploitation of racial polarization in the past.
  • Critics argue that Republican-led efforts to tighten voting laws—including stricter voter ID requirements, restrictions on absentee and early voting, and gerrymandering—disproportionately disenfranchise minority voters.
  • Republican proposals that include harsher immigration enforcement and rhetoric are seen by many as discriminatory toward Hispanic and other immigrant communities.
  • Some Republicans, such as Sen. Tim Scott, have stated that the party is often accused of racism because of its silence in condemning such remarks
  • Multiple Republican officials and candidates have been accused of using racist language or embracing white nationalist themes, though some in the party have condemned this rhetoric.

Are Republicans racist? Some are, some aren't.
Are MAGA types racist? Most are, some might not be but hard to imagine any that aren't.
Is Trump racist?
That one is a rhetorical question.

How will Trumpers respond to this thread? They will reveal themselves and make themselves obvious.

Wait till they get here, the proof will be in their responses.

Democrat: "Everybody's a racist except me."
Republicans call it reverse discrimination. It is when the minorities get help from bi-partisan legislation using civil rights. It took a congressional act to force America to accept integration into society. Racist have never accepted the truth that all men are created equal.

Racists love racism, speak of it often, and don't want it to go away. For them it must be continually fed, especially into the public eye to keep it a political issue. In politics it's stereotyped onto the opposition to keep the division alive and well. Racists never have the thought that all men are created equal in their paradigm, for they could care less, for it's all about using the 'accusation' of racism to belittle others to be seen as morally superior. They are above and better than their political opposition and use racism as a tool to make others see them as morally superior to political opposition and the minorities they use as tools.

MAGA, at its core, is a movement to create a white ethnostate driven by backlash over having a black president and the decline of white people in proportion to other groups. That's why you get things like obsession with birth rates, deportation, appeals to "western civilization", etc. The fact that its driven by identity concerns is the reason why the movement has no core philosophy or political theory behind it.

One like is not enough for this comment.

methinks thou dost protest too much

MAGA and trumptardlicans are STEEPED in racism, most assuredly.

I see it daily in my hick "conservative" area. Its 99% White here. The racism is so deeply ingrained as to be ubiquitous.

Sure, say some dumb stuff about Mexicans and "gangs", and they'll be shrieking themselves hoarse against their own best interests. Just not a very well informed bunch.
Most have no idea how our government is supposed to work. Most have no idea how a law is made.
Most are far too simpleton to see what the big deal is about mobilizing military troops against American citizens.

They'll stand there and tell you they "aren't racist", and many may even believe that.

But if Donald Trump were black.....you can be sure that we would not be having any of these conversations right now. Because he would have never become a force in the "not racist" GOP.

There can be truths in both @redbeer and @Slartibarfast posts.

Trump constantly does hugely racist things and makes racist comments and his fans are fine with it all but as soon as anyone points out those racist things and comments they get hugely upset and claim everyone else is a racist but Trump.

It's pretty funny.

Just Laws help stop Racism. Unjust Laws re-enforce Racism. Where in the US Constitution did it say Blacks were less than equal to Whites? I will agree with the facts.

Since the Colonies Declaration of the Independence from England, America as we know it,has always discriminated on Minorities. The Founding Fathers were Bigots, Slave owners. The Congress was Full Blown Racist. President Donald Trump is hell bent on rewriting history using White Supremacy... As they say, the Fish stinks from the Head. Wake Up MAGA, Your Party is shrouded in White-Supremacy. Why don't you admit Trump is a White-Supremacist.

Sure Trump is racist, but he doesn't even make the top five on the most racist presidents list.

I would go with:

1) Wilson - our most progressive president
2) FDR - another progressive
3) Jackson - founder of the democrat party
4) Jefferson - held some libertarian views while being a slave holder.
5) Washington
6) Teddy Roosevelt - another progressive hero.

Probably many others I can't think of that were way worse than Trump.

All of that was before the southern strategy in the 70s and early 80s.

Why does that matter.
Because you are citing an outdated platform that has nothing to do with modern political ideology. You may as well be citing stances and controversies that happened between Mercia and Northumbria.

southern plantation slavery was Democrats
KKK was Democrats
Jim Crow and those who fought civil rights were Democrats
big city's where violence is so high is controlled by Democrats for decades

don't forget history

Looks Like you see it for what is was and acknowledge it still exist. Here we are 250 years later and the Government still has not fully figured it out. Laws have been nothing more than a band-aid for society as a whole.

Every white person was racist back then. We are supposed to be getting better , not worse. But then again, I guess that’s what trump means by “make America great again”
