One psychiatrist, Yale Psychiatry Professor Bandy X. Lee, thinks Trump's words and actions are indicators that he should at least be examined by professionals.

Yale psych prof explains Trump’s pathology—and why he’s more dangerous than ever

A study found that his Twitter usage widely instigates hate crimes, and Mr. Trump’s vengeful words against those in the House could further contribute to a culture of division and violence in the United States.

ABC News reported 17 court cases that traced defendants’ violence, threats or alleged assaults directly to Mr. Trump. The greater the pressure, the more his mental challenges will cause him to take unpredictable and potentially extreme and dangerous actions as president, and as long as he is in his office, he of course has a lot of power to do damage. There should no longer be any doubt about this propensity, and lawmakers and the public should not take it lightly, either.

When the President labels specific enitities in America as "Enemies of the People", I think we are facing a serious situation. Far too many Americans continue to believe a man who lies at an average rate of 15 times every day. Of course, his minions and acolytes and worshipful followers will claim the Lying Lamestream Media is just making up their stories about his lies.

In what ways have Trump’s unique pathologies played into the chaos?

His dangers are no longer probable but demonstrable: his attraction to cruel and violent policies; his effectiveness in inciting violence; his stripping of moderating forces; his pursuit of a position of power without appropriate qualifications; and his shaping of the national and international culture after his own mental state—all fit the pattern of well-known, dangerous personality structures.

Since there is no rational strategy underneath it all, granting him what he wishes was bound to cause him to deteriorate and to cause devastation to the nation—we have not yet seen the end. That is why we mental health professionals have been warning against this presidency as a part of our societal responsibility.

Yes he is both.

Is it in the Consitution that a president can't be in office while reccovering from a stroke or alzheimer's disease?

Exhibit “A”:

I used to believe that his lying was his favorite method of keeping The Cutt in line. But I'm beginning to think that there's something not quite right in Trump's brain.

For example, as what was pointed out, one day he claims that the federal employees are Democrats and the next day he's claiming they're telling him they don't want their jobs or paychecks until Trump gets his wall.

How can a rational person flip 180 degrees on so many issues and expect to be believed and respected? I think it's a combination of two factors. His ability to be honest is on par with his ability to feel empathy. That coupled with the onset of early dementia has resulted in an inability to distinguish the truth from his lies.

The bottom line, he might be as honest and as he's able to. He deserves as much of our pity as he does our disgust. Maybe he should be committed to a sanitarium rather than tried and committed to a jail cell...

I've come to believe that most of it isn't lies, he is just too lazy to shut off Fox and Friends and learn something. Instead he just spews out the first thing that pops into his head about the topic du jour. Usually that's whatever Fox and Friends told him will make his base happy.

Maybe he could get a quickie drive-by mental health exam from some quack shrink like he did with his initial medical exam by that quack MD, who described his condition as “state[d] unequivocally” that Donald Trump “will be the healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency.” Those are not words that MDs use to describe lab results. I hear "stable genius" ringing in my ears.

Another shrink diagnosing Trump without having met the man. YAWN!

It only backs up what we've been thinking to see professionals speculate (with a lot more knowledge and experience than the rest of us). They probably can tell a lot just by watching him because so can anyone, just by watching him:

he is unhinged, paranoid, probably a compulsive liar. A compulsive liar I should explain is not just someone who lies for personal gain ro to hide the truth or embarrassment: anyone can do that - it is a disorder where they constantly need to embellish or distort to either satisfy their ego or impress others. They don't think about how believable their lies are; they do not care much for the consequences and will flip and change as needed.

Moreover his displays no intellectual curiosity, seems to think he knows everyone, doesn't listen to or even consult advisors, dismisses anyone who naysays him - even those whose job it is; he insults and belittles opponents and perceived enemies. These suggest narcissistic personality disorder - and disorder means mental illness in layman's terms. The guy is deranged.

Aside from whether one agrees with the man's politics, he seems quite detached from reality. This could be a symptom of being spoiled and rich and always getting things his own way; despite being a failure many times, never suffering consequences; because he's had money his whole life, never being second-guessed. But that sort of insulation at the very least leads to a sort of isolation and personality dysfunction; it could again contribute to mental illness.

This is observable by anyone who listens not to what he promises and whether they agree with his platform, but to how he says it, how often it changes, how he treats others and other more human levels of interaction. So it comes as no surprise that experts see something similar. They don;t have to interview the man and run tests though that would certainly be more validating; they see as much of him as the rest of us do and to a rational mind - he's kinda loopy.

With a background in mental health nursing I can definitively state that Trump does not behave like a person with Alzheimers.
He's a rich selfish spolit arsehole, and nothing about him has changed in years.
This is his normal, which is why he's Putin's perfect patsy. No matter to Putin if he can't directly steer him, almost anything Trump does will be bad for America (and the west). Putin put a mindless bull in charge of a china shop with nukes.

It doesn't have to be. Contrary to what most conservatives believe, the current or the original Constitution is not a perfect document...

I'm just hoping when POTUS in given his next annual physical, whoever does his mental evaluation cares more about the country than he does about Trump.

THIS! All of this. No matter where you stand on policy, the man's behavior is very concerning. He is unstable and takes to ranting on a social outlet - belittling, insulting, patronizing and name calling. I cannot wrap my mind around those who defend his every move and breath.

I stand corrected. His behavior is unstable. The rest is an observation of his actions.

Edited to add: Did you want to actually discuss the topic?

I certainly agree that TrumpSpeak is abnormal but see that as no great cause for alarm.

We'll disagree on that point. Do you honestly not see that his personality is defensive and reactive? He deals in ultimatums and that's dangerous. At this point, his ego is a threat to national security - this is not about concern for Americans.

a psychopath or suffering from senile dementia

Are those the only two options as far as you are concerned?

He said he hasn't left the white house in months. Two days after he went to Texas.

There is no recovery from Alzheimer’s. And the 25th Amendment may be applicable to Trump.

That is a good example of TrumpSpeak for sure. In TrumpSpeak that most likely meant that he took fewer of his usual leisure trips to play golf recently. His trips to Texas and Iraq were work related so he did not count that as non-working time thus he considered it to be White House time. Far too many get all worked up over meaningless comments made by Trump and he is likely amused by the faux outrage that results from it.

My only quibble with the above is the point about him being amused. I really think it troubles him that there is so much hatred directed toward him,his family and those who work for him. Pretty certain he did not understand just how vicious the business of politics is. I am sure he has had brutal dealing in business, with high stakes. Not sure he realized just how far the game of personal destruction goes in Washington. he thought he was being rough when he called opponents in the primaries silly names. Childs play for the likes of Reid then Schumer and Pelosi. Not to mention the trillions at stake in each year's federal spending.

The establishment is showing anyone who wants to run outside the mainstream of the two parties life will be miserable if you ever make it here.
