Pedophilia is a sort of social construct. I never hear outrage over the age of women(girls) in Africa, South America, or other remote tribal people. 9 certainly is very young. I can't see the use of consumating a realtionship before puberty. I really don't understand the attraction.

No they shouldn't be but they are. The laws are in place to try and protect the underage teens from adults.

Just to pt things in perspective. The Romans married at 12 and 15 for girls and guys, respectively. Anyways, they probably didn't really hae a relationship or anything, she just lived with him and did choore and stuff.

It seems to me that anyone calling this pedofilia, doesn't really know what is on his back. Things like this has and still happen all the time, in various parts of the world. Honestly, when the life expectancy was at the age of 30, girls got married young. Some got married as soon as they had thier very first period, while girls today are getting pregnant at teh age of 9 years old, before their first period. Now what can you really say about this?

One case in particular that I had one of my teachers tell me... This mother brought in her daughter, at 10 years old, at Jackson Memorial Hospital, for stomach & back aches. The physician that saw the girl, palpated her stomach and stated that the girl was in labor. The mother fainted right then and there, she only thought that her daughters physical changes was that from her developing, not being pregnant. In any case, the mother had to be admitted to the hospital as well.

That's true. Even the bible makes reference to Jacobs wife Sarah being baren until God opened her womb. It's probably up for interpretation but I take that to mean that Sarah was married to Jacob before she went through puberty.

I also agree. Today there are big diffrences in contries on what you see as the norms of what minimum age there is for marriage, a father giving his daughters hand away when she's only 12 isn't unusaul in countries like Pakistan or Indonesia, while in USA it would be a big stir about it.
