Do you think blocking traffic is an acceptable way of protesting something?

Do you think blocking traffic is an acceptable way of protesting something?

Considering the fact that the police eventually arrived and arrested the protesters, it appears this is not acceptable in Italy.

Other locations...Portland, LA, Seattle, DC, the list goes on...consider this acceptable, while other areas...the State of Florida, for example...do not.

Myself? I do not think blocking traffic is an acceptable way of protesting anything.

Who did they assault?
My OP was not about assault, it was about blocking traffic to protest. Can you not read English? Read my OP again..

wait, you're more concerned with the protesting than the assault?

Doesn't that seem a bit backwards to you?

I can think of things I'd illegally block traffic to protest.

Hey, do all you commies still have your vagina hats? Get ‘em out! You might make the local news!

I think flowing traffic uses less fossil fuel than the stop and go they created. Time and place for everything. I just hope they didn't block an ambulance.

With respect:

Of course conservatives want protests that can be easily ignored.

I'm not a fan of blocking traffic. Ethically it infringes on the rights of others. Practically, it draws more attention but probably not the kind they're looking for. So to me it doesn't make sense from either side.

You still haven't answered the question.
Because you're ignoring the obvious crime being committed by individuals who are not the protestors you're so concerned about.

How do you feel about the criminal assaulting people exercising their first amendment rights?

I have no problems with protesting as long as it does not interfere with third party lives. These protesters are holding up people's lives that have nothing to do with what they are protesting about. Blocking traffic is not the way to go.

I would have pulled them out of the way too, especially if they were keeping me from my family.

Now, let's see if you have grown a pair or are you a coward and won't answer the OP.

I'll even space out the words for you so you can read more clearly.

Is... blocking... traffic... an... acceptable... form... of... protesting... something?

Does the constitution have your "as long as it doesn't interfere with third party lives" exemption?

No.

Unless they are specifically being escorted by police, or have a valid city permit, what they are doing is committing a crime. Whenever laws are violated it immediately ceases to be a peaceful and lawful protest supported by the First Amendment of the US Constitution, and becomes an illegal riot instead.

Those rioters in your photograph were lucky. Some States will either allow drivers to run over rioters, or not prosecute those drivers that do.

Personally, I don't think it is. Also those two guys assaulting the protestors should be prosecuted.
Bullshit, they should be given medals.

That one guy dragging the female protestor by the hair after she moved back into the road a second time reminds me of.....me. ;)

I would never run over protestors unless I felt an imminent lethal threat by them as we have seen in some of these types of incidents. Thinking here of the truck driver Reginald Denny severely beaten by rioters during the Los Angeles Rodney King riots. But blocking another person from their rightful an legal ability to move or travel is in fact an act of force by a protestor. Therefore, I see no problem with any citizen using reasonable force to MOVE a person who is intentionally denying that person free movement.

It pleased me how he dragged them like a sack of potatoes LOL.

Here is one of my favorite similar videos. Blocking the free movement of other citizens is NOT a peaceful protest.

Consider also that if they are willing and eager to deliberately violate the law, what is to prevent them from violating the law against murder?

Any one who is violating the law as a form of "protest" is a direct physical threat to me. If they happen to be within my vicinity then I would consider my life to be threatened and act appropriately.
