To understand why they closed the parks read this article
National Parks Close As Other Public Lands Stay Open : NPR

Now take into consideration the circumstances of how our government shutdown and maybe you'll see why the administration is not nearly at fault as when compared to congressional republicans.

Those are parks, not statues in DC where no one stationed before the shutdown. This is on the stupid ass democrats whining because they are not getting their way.

I guess you failed to read the thread, dunno:confused:

Obama and the idiots are spending more money to close open exhibits that is spent when they are open. Has nothing to do with the shutdown.

The federal shutdown by the Republicans includes shutting down federal exhibits, like Mt. Rushmore. They're considered nonessential for the govt to continue running, which makes sense. But I'm sure Cruz knew that and approved, since he was the Pied Piper. I'm not suggesting Cruz wasn't fully aware of what he was doing. That would not be nice...to say he didn't know what the heck he was doing. I'm a little more concerned about children with cancer not getting treatments, though, and the fact that medical research is shut down. A lot of people, incl those who handle the outdoor exhibits, are not going to get paychecks. It's a sad situation. I'm sure Cruz is refusing to take pay, since this was his plan, though. He has money, so he can easily do without a few paychecks, so I'm sure he's declining pay or contributing it to charity.

Liberals are always an embarrassment.
I could list endless examples going back through the decades.
Why we still have to suffer through their shenanigans I'll never know.

That's because the National Park Service runs the Monuments. Can you imagine the sheer volume of people moving through there everyday? Now imagine maintaining and supervising these when practically all of your staff has been furloughed.

More deflection, no surprise that democrats are having to finally learn money does not grow on trees. Obama and the dip****s are forming blockades on roads outside of Mount Rushmore to keep people from even seeing it outside the park. The fact that you support this is very telling.

I was there before the shutdown after dark and did not see or speak to one park employee. You can't defend this except too say you support whining democrats in DC.

Tellin' indeed
I'm now convinced there is no limit to what the Left-wing loonies will support.
Even they aren't able to be embarrassed by their party.
no limit nutjobs

Well unless you were quite honestly out looking for employees I don't see this as a very credible argument. Not even considering the fact you have no proof besides your own words.

Anyone that has been there know there are not 30 parking rangers standing around when it is open. Not my fault you choose not to know about things in your own country.

The nation’s capital has managed to spare itself many of the supposed troubles of the partial government shutdown.

More than 661 Park Service police, a fifth of the 3,266 employees nationwide deemed essential, are currently on duty in Washington, D.C. alone, according to a copy of the shutdown contingency plan leaked to The Daily Caller.

The preponderance of D.C.-based park police makes some sense given that the capital had a large share of taxpayer-funded sites long before the government spending gap. But the figure raises the question of why that number is not sufficient to maintain access to open-air exhibits and monuments, many of which previously had no guards.

Anyone? Do you know how many park rangers are present at any given time at the national monuments? I'd assume not, just like how you are assuming at this very instant. You chastise me for not knowing something about my country, but you just make blind assumptions about it and believe it to be fact.

Classification as of 2003 Number Area Visitors

National Memorial 29 10,588.45 acres (43 km2) 30,559258
National Monument 78 2,027,864.58 acres (8,206 km2) 22,646,428
National Park 59 52,095,045.71 acres (210,821 km2) 62,950,968

Here are a few samples of national park lands and their traffic during the period of a year in 2003. The Lincoln memorial itself is evem the 9th most trafficked unit of park land.

Way to copy/paste.

In the past 2 weeks we have seen a man light himself on fire on the National Mall and A women attempted to assault the White house and then presumably make her way to the capitol building. I do not believe it is a strech of any reasonable person's imagination that there is most definitely a potential threat to our national monuments. Also how fair is it for the National Park Service to maintain some lands and not others?

You did not read the post, there are normally no guards at the outside exhibits in DC which was the point of the thread. There is no defense for the sniveling ass in the white house.

There's suppose to be a big pro illegal alien rally planed for on the Capital Mall this Tuesday. Future Democrat voters demanding amnesty, citizenship and free stuff.

I wonder how Obama is going to react ? :thinking Veterans barred from the WW ll memorial, Veterans barred from the Iwo Jima flag raising war memorial. Vietnam vets barred from the "Wall."

Will Obama order the Park Police to ban the illegal aliens and their socialist activist supporters from gathering on the Mall ?
Do you think there's a slight chance that Obama may uphold the oath of office he took and enforce our nations laws and order ICE agents to arrest and deport every illegal alien on the Capital Mall ? :2rofll:

I understand that there are normally not guards immediately posted at the monuments. However I believe recent events have certainly justified the use of guards at these monuments.

I'd love to see that happen!

I'd love to see that happen!

So would I.

If this administration were to uphold the Constitution, guess who would be voting the Democratic ticket ?

But that would cause the fringe of the radical left to flee from the Democrat tent and go looking for another political party tent to crawl under.

The hypocrisy of the blind Obama haters never ceases to amaze me.

Obama Administration Deported Record 1.5 Million People : It's All Politics : NPR

Record Number of Illegal Immigrants Deported in 2011 | Lost in Detention | FRONTLINE | PBS

Here's the problem with those numbers, they were cooked. The Obama administration includes illegal aliens caught at the border who are immediately returned across the border. The majority of the illegal aliens that the Obama counts as being deported were never deported. It takes a court order to deport someone. So the numbers are bogus, just another Obama lie.

How many here have been to DC? I have. There is no legitimate reason to block off the various outdoor exhibits other than Obama and company choose to act like children. Same with Mt. Rushmore. They are spending more money just to be assholes.

Oh for F-sake. I get it. I really get it. I don't like the health care law either, I'm not a fan of the President (and I didn't vote for him), and I wish we had more clout in Washington. But THIS is what is childish. I'm honestly astonished at the reaction my fellow 'Conservatives' and 'Libertarians' have had to the shutdown. I mean what the hell did you think was going to happen? This is the consequence for our elected officials making a terrible and pedantic choice to try and fight a legitimately passed piece of legislation that they have zero (read that again: zero) chance of stopping. When the government shuts down it doesn't keep open just the things that we like. Is it BS that the World War II Memorial is closed? Yeah it probably be is. But for christ sake direct your anger at the right target.

That question should be backdated by half a decade.

I know you lefties never tire of defending this shambles of an administration.
I know you've no shame and that reduces your credibility to less than zero.

We Real Americans fart in your general direction!

They're trying to make the effects of the shutdown as visible and painful as possible, especially to the Republican voter base. It's the exact same tactics that the republicans used to shut the government down in the first place. I'm a bit disappointed that Obama and company didn't take the opportunity to take the higher ground here, but honestly it's no more than I expected.
