On many political discussion sites there are those who boast that they are prepared for another Civil War.

Don't know how that would look, something like the invasion of the Capital? Where they took selfies of themselves so the FBI could easily find them?

Or would it be more organized, like local militias, and how would they stack up against the military? Of course, some might believe that the military would back local militias or that the National Guard would back them.

BUT most importantly, I often wonder, would those advocating or seeking another Civil War actually join in, or is it just hot air from the comfort of their computer desk or laptop or cellphone?

Is another Civil War possible?

Nothing is impossible, but I would not bet on a Civil War in the US. We're all too fat and happy to take a crap in our Wheaties.

I voted "Not a Chance" because the events at the Capitol Building demonstrated just how cowardly and disorganized the proto-fascist right-wing-nut fringe actually is. They were unprepared to occupy the building and install Trump as their beloved Fuhrer. They could never muster a unified assault, and in fact, there's no way for them to even begin to tell who the enemy is. The South shall not rise again!

there are memes out there of armed militias looking like beer drinking frat boys vs the well trained military, it would be fun to watch though

The South Will Rise Again!!!

A Canadian civil war?

Canada is too boring for a civil war.

The next American Civil War will take place in a multi-court constitutional convention. It will be called the United States Fourth Continental Congress.

LOL, there was a time we almost had one with Quebec, thankfully we got over it.

if there is another civil war, it will financially crush those who aren't already very, very wealthy. the collapse of the dollar would be unavoidable. however, i don't see it happening, because most of the people who would participate are old brainwashed lumps who have to be nagged by their wives for six months just to paint the garage. the insurrection was less than a day. can you imagine those same people sleeping rough in the winter and eating hardtack for five or ten years?

Civil wars requiring competing sets of elites. As there is no organized coalition of elites who support traditional American values, there is no possibility of them being restored (by civil war or otherwise).

If (per impossible) there were a realistic chance of taking the country back by force, I would do my part. But there isn't and won't be so it's a moot point.

wow you surprise me, I thought you would pick option 6
It won't take a civil war to remove the socialists...just political victories.

I think what your more likely to see is simply an increase in domestic right-wing terrorism. You'll see some small groups attempt to succeed and you'll likely have some Waco-style standoffs.

What kind of timeline are you talking about? Given enough time, it's almost inevitable.

Eh. What would it even look like in modern day exchanges? Anyone running around the streets armed and firing at civilians will be taken out in a heartbeat. If the idea is that LEO’s/military will take sides, nah. Maybe cops here and there but military and higher tier of LEO is going to do their duty.

This is just fantasy stuff from Republicans because they can’t win with words and ideas anymore.

Depends on what you're talking about.

Secession is nearly impossible. You think that Georgia got hit with a backlash for its voter suppression law? Child's play compared to what actual secession would do, if it ever got that far. Not just massive boycotts of nearly everything, but military blockades, which are allowed in times of war. And those states can forget ever playing college football again.

However, the 1/06 attacks emboldened right-wing terrorists, who are likely to strike again. This is why DHS recognized them as America's number one terror threat, even during the trump regime, which condoned right-wing terrorism.

It is unfortunate that the only way to prevent right-wing terrorist attacks is with our powerful intelligence community. But our intel community doesn't pose a danger to me. Right-wing terrorists do.

I think we would see the United States government fall apart before we saw a second Civil War. And I don’t think the United States government is going to fall apart either

Oh yeah the blockade of any state leaving the union would make Venezuela look like child’s play. The states with practically starve to death

I don't think they would go that far. We could feed the people like we did in the Berlin Airlift.

But you're right to suggest that the seceding slave state's economy would collapse. Nobody in their right mind would want to travel there for business. And even if they did, every single state border between the seceding slave state and the remaining free state would be guarded by the US military, with tight regulations about who crosses.
